Continuing now with our Lenten features on some of the ladies, Clarice shared her thoughts on how spirituality has shielded her from the difficult and trying days as a Binibini.
“At such a young age, I was already exposed to the environment of an all-girls Catholic school and even until college, the setting was almost the same since I studied at UST. Throughout my life, I have always had strong faith in God and I believe it is what kept me going through all the hardships and breakthroughs that have happened to me. I have doubted myself before I even began my quest in becoming a Binibini and a beauty queen and I think that what helped me most – aside from the support and coaches I’ve been getting from the people I love – are prayers. Being a Binibini is definitely not just a challenge but moreso, a commitment which we need to devote ourselves into. As we all know, the pressure of being one can really become overwhelming and yes, behind those flashing lights and charming smiles, all of us have our breakdowns. I don’t know about the others but for me, it is only in prayers and talking to God that i find solitude and able to calm and relax myself.
#Binibini25 is one clear proof of how being part of the nationals can make-or-break even the most determined fighter. But she is still keeping her head held high, hoping that her efforts will be rewarded in the end.
