  2. While it is indeed true that some potential candidates doesn’t have an “iron clad” emotion, this then serves as a catalyst to immerse themselves into a litmus test whether pageant is indeed for them or not. Beauty pageant already evolves tremendously. Kylie, Nicole, Angelia and Pia are the type of girls who never doubted themselves thus they became triumphant. There is no more room for dilly dally once they lodge their application. And the crown goes to the girl who has self assurance to deliver the highest quality of a polished Filipina.

  3. Norman, if you were James Marsden and somebody said you were ugly, would u feel offended?of course not!
This is a beauty business and by joining Beauty pageants , you expect to be judged from head to toe. If u get offended by what is said abt you, it is either true or you have a very low self esteem. Do not read Norman if any negative comments will push you down the path of depression and self defeat.
Yes , I Read the saintly Jackie Bong700 and Jen . I also enjoy hearing from the smart Phillip Franco Thomas Saluda Melanie Joy Laila Etc. But do you think this blog will last as long as it has Without Basil Cocoy Franco Jeremi and the other acerbic tongues? I really don’t think so . With all honesty , I always look forward to hearing from these guys. I know their opinions are exagerrated but they put a smile on my face every time I read them .
So, Norman. have the Filipino pageant fans become spoiled brats? No . We are what we are inside and outside of beauty pageantry . So pls embrace it ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Okay guys, let’s admit it. Dear Fabian has a point! There is a part of ourselves that find the acerbic nasty comments downright entertaining — although some of us won’t admit it. It’s probably the raw comments and nasty exchanges between us readers that make our visits here much more interesting and engaging. And to be honest, I actually take as much enjoyment reading the readers’ comments which I find quite entertaining, nastiness aside, as much as I do read the blog (no offense Norman)! So carry on dearies, but try to do so with kindness! ๐Ÿ’•

      • Yes indeed!

    • I can see your point Fabian, but there are realities of market/audience segmentation; that there are crowds for broadsheets and crowd for tabloids; preferences for CNN/BBC and those who like FOX news. Those who like to have exchange of opinions with Karen Davila and those who’d like a ‘maligning conversations’ with Cristy Fermin. You need to preserve your market and nurture the people you live with in that community you love. Cocoy and Jeremi may humor you at times but most often, they offend and caused others to leave. Because there should never be tolerance to disrespect. Yes, we celebrate diversity and dissenting opinions but all should always be anchored on respect and civility. I know you are on the side of ‘mas malawak ang pang-unawa’- but trust me, ang daming witty at maldita dito without malice. Disrespect breeds. In time, pag makita nila kung saan sila mas sinicelebrate, they will soon find their niche..

  4. TBT: Susan Roces on Karen Davila

    • Presstitute to the max carl, ganun ba bwihihihi

  5. Mga vaks, ang tawag dito eh coaching on the couch. Alam nyo si Norms eh experienced yan and he sees things that we don’t see. He is closer to A&Q girls for obvious reasons, A&Q is A&Q! Yes I would love our blogger to cover as many pageants as possible. I also hope that he covers male pageants despite his affiliation with Gentleman franchise. I felt bad for our rep at Mister International wala man lang PR. Good thing he made semis due to fanvoting.

Lastly, if you’re going to give your opinion, make it count. You can criticize someone and yet be able to show respect. You can disagree but show some respect instead of name calling etc. The Philippines is at the top at the moment, at least take the high road for once.

  6. KUNG MERON MAN DITO SPOILED EH WALANG IBA KUNDI ANG BLOGGER MISMO! KUNG MAKAPAGBIGAY NG OPINION SA CNN KALA MO KE GALING GALING! PURO MALI NAMAN ANG MGA PREDICTIONS! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚PASALAMAT KA NORMAN AT MARURUNONG ANG MGA READERS MO! UN LANG NAMAN ANG PINUPUNTA NG MGA NAG COCOMMENT DITO TO VENT OUT! NOT FOR YOUR OPINIONS AND DEFINITELY NOT FOR YOUR WRITING ABILTY! KAYA PASALAMATAN MO ANG MGA NAG COCOMMENT DITO NA KAHIT GYERA NA EH MASAYANG MASAYA KA DAHIL TUMATAAS ANG CLICKS AT VISITS SA SITE MO! HINDI SPOILED BRATS ANG MGA BAKLANG PINOY TEH PASSIONATE LANG!

    • Norman clearly has a point. So please, wag maging tanga at magmagaling. Recognize naman valid points. Duh.

    • And how about yours? It reflects in all your posts. Pak na Pak You!

She mentioned Ms. France as one of the potential winers and she won.

    • Honestly, I appreciate your comments because some of them are really funny but why are you so rude to Norman? If you really thinks that he is no writing ability then why don’t you make your own blog? I am sure it is going to be hilarious. (No name calling just comments)

  7. As I said before “You can’t please everyone, if you do you lose yourself.” I don’t find you bias at all, Tito Norms. I so much admire your work!

  8. Spoiled brats? Entitled snobs are what Filipino pageant fans are gradually become unfortunately. But spoiled brats? No. Leave that term to the Indonesians; they display a greater sense of childish self-entitlement, and they still haven’t won a major crown.

  9. Many women aspires to be a beauty queen. They apply for the love of country and to make themselves grow. I myself doesnt comment about how a woman lacks beauty, sexy body coherence, styling coz these things can be improved given proper motivation and makeovers. plus I dobt want to hurt their parents and loveones. What I cant take are women claiming they are 5’8 when they are 5’5. Please dont pad in the international arena if they win in the local pageany. Nagkakabukingan na pag tinabi sa 6ft yun so called 5’8. There is a reason why there is a height requirement and anyone below 5’6 should try to go Mutya route or Miss Earth.

      • Djusko ko bong700 why would they cheat on something that is so easy to prove? Are you saying we’re so bobo?

  10. The sense of entitlement by some people here is just so horrific. Be kind, you can never go wrong with kindness. No one deserves to be criticized or bashed. Filipinos by nature love to criticize – oh ang taba mo ngayon ah, oh bakit mukhang lantang gulay ka. It’s part of our culture for some reason. I’ve recognized that other cultures are more polite. After living in the US for more than 15 years,I’ve learned to shut up and focus on things that can be improved. Yes it can be learned. Try it, your life will be so much better. And Tito Norms you have all the right to write whatever you want. And those who don’t like your writing have all the right to ignore you and leave. There’s no gun pointed to their heads anyway. And by all means you have the power to filter the comments if others can’t practice self censorship. After all not everyone has the same values and education like most of us here.. Bravo Tito Norms!

    • I agree with you. We better be thankful for someone like Tito Norms. The likes of cocoy, jeremi, cocoy and jeremi, lumayas kayo sa thread or itikum nyo mga mababahong bunganga nyo kung puro panalalait lang angngagawin nyo. Better, create your own blogs at dun kayo manlait ng todo sa mga hindi nyo gusto. Or di nyo kaya mag create or mag maintain ng blogs? See!hihi

      • Jeremi & cocoy is still tolerable for me. Their opinion is just sarcastic but “sarcasm is the highest form of intelligence but the lowest form of wit.” Most people are just used to the “witty” type of comment. Others are hurt right away. “Reality bites” as we all know it.

  11. Dear Mr. Norman,

I am kinda torn by your post…

    > One school of thought would say that “if you can not stand the heat, then get the hell out of the kitchen”. If a girl or her handlers can not take the negative comments (even if glaringly true), then please don’t join a national beauty contest. I’ve always believed that a person who is whole and with inner strength can not just be destroyed by what you call “pageantry spoiled brats”.

    > Let us not kid ourselves into thinking that majority of these pageant girls and their handlers are in this racket to promote world peace and end world hunger. Come on. They are here for the fame, fortune, money, adulation. Period.

    > However, I agree that there is a wide line between a polite-negative comment vs. bashing that only comes from a hateful heart. In an perfect world, there should only be the former than the latter. All will be decent and encouraging and will only talk about rainbows and unicorns. But this is not a perfect world. Mr. Norman, what is a public forum for if not to freely express one’s opinion? Who should police what is offensive and what is not? It seems the only solution is that you, as the owner of the blog can start moderating the comments and be the judge what ioffends your sensibilities. But do you really want to do that? Wouldn’t your blog be so boring? Aren’t you going to be tired?

    > Your commenters are intelligent Mr. Norman. They can distinguish who among the regular forumers do nothing but bash or insult and see nothing good in ANY of the candidates. Offhand, I can name three people in this forum who are like that – – hehe. So, we just ignore or humor them and their opinions are not given much thought anyway. At the very least, they make your blog entertaining.

    > And then there are those who give BOTH positive and negative comments. Are they also part of the “spoiled brat” label if their negative comments are not so nice and borders on bashing and insult?
If we make a negative comment or even insult or bash a featured candidate, are we telling a lie ? The truth is, some of the girls featured so far are really NOT BEAUTY QUEEN materials. And it is annoying when these girls are deceivingly packaged to us with added height, cakes of make-up, photo shopped and filterized with a back story to arouse interest.

The truth hurts but it is the truth – – sometimes we need to be like the boy who simply said “the emperor has no clothes”

    World Peace.

  12. I love the intention of Tito Norms but the article does not convince me to be nicer. I’m a brat in person. I get what I want. Why? Because I deserve it.

The bashing is another topic. We don’t bash because we are spoiled brats. We bash because we are already having a shitty day and this so called beauty queen annoys us more. Mahaha.

What do I mean? The argument of the blogger is fallacious: non-sequitur.

I agree with the Bianca Guidotti comment below. I like the girl but she’s just tall, kind, nice and friendly. But, she’s not pretty for me.

So, to the so called spoiled brats who are bashers, let us not falter. Let the bashing continue. To the aspiring beauty queens, accept us for who we are. We’re not gonna be always on your side. We are not blind. We’re pageant experts in our own rights. We’ve made Pia, Megan, Kylie, Angelia and Mutya, Bea and the rest of them.

Admit it, you wouldn’t want to be beauty queens if not for us. Who would love to be a queen without followers?

    • All I am asking is for thumbs down with explanations – not attention-getting quick remarks that promote a poster’s screenplay-inspired punchlines. And my understanding is if you start following a beauty queen or pageant aspirant, then the concern is already in place. We can always be reasonable spoiled brats, right?

      • Norman — If I were you, I would just REMOVE the thumbs down button altogether, but keep the thumbs up button for positive reinforcement.

Removing the thumbs down button will compel disagreeing readers to articulate their opinions, rather than them just simply clicking the thumbs down button willy-nilly — which only reinforces negativity.

      • Norman, I hope this endeavor (blogging) that you have undertaken continues to give you pleasure because I really enjoy reading your blog and I am thankful for your service. I also hope that you are getting some kind of financial compensation because some of your readers can be really NASTY. Sending you lots of positive energy from my part of the world….

Yung 2% kasi ay sobrang maimpluwensya kaya more than 50% ang affected/infected hihihi

      Fact : Sa social media, Mas malaki ang engagement sa mga bloggers kesa sa mainstream media;

  14. Comments of BASHERS reflects their personality. Kung pangit at nakaka affect yong blog nila meron syang problema at di kagandahan ang UGALI.

Charaught hihihihi

  16. Perhaps a Disclaimer in big letters should say:

“CANDIDATES BEWARE: Read the ‘COMMENTS’ section at your own peril.”

  17. I agree with Tito Norms. I know we all want the best. but please make sure or let’s try our best to be objective. bago tayo mag post, kung may kapuna-puna man, see to it na we express it objectively or subjectively or whatever. wag lang below the bet and personal comments.

    • Galing. You got it right. Spoiled brats, indeed. Lesson!

  18. I have long waited for this words from you Norman. You should set the record straight and never allow bullying or bad mouthing in your blog. As the owner of this blog, it is your responsibility to filter comments and not approve those that are not relevant to the post and with intentions just to bully and malign other candidates. Also, it would help if you would not be biased at all to any beauty queen or camp. Believe it or not, your favoritism is very evident. I may say otherwise and I wont argue, but your readers are not stupid not to notice such. Still, I commend you for coming up with this post.

    • DAPAT NORMAN TANUNGIN MO RIN SARILI MO KUNG PATAS KA RIN BA AT MAKATARUNGAN BA PINAGSUSULAT MO! KAW BA WALANG PINABORAN? IKAW ANG ME ARI NG BLOG NA TO, BKIT DI MO IFELTER, BAKIT HINAHAYAAN MO MAGPOST NG MAGPOST NG KUNG ANO ANO ANG MGA KUNG SINO SINO. IKAW AT IKAW DIN LANG ANG PASIMUNO NG LAHAT, PINILI MONG MAGKARTOON NG BLOG, PWES PANINDIGAN MO!

  19. Opinions opinions opinions.
    RESPECT.

I always note this one for myself.

“It’s not about you it’s more about them.”
Your main problem is how you react.

  20. First of all, I agree with Norman about readers posting hurtful comments. There’s no excuse. PERIOD.

However, I’ve been a constant reader of Norman’s blog for several years and readers’ comments here have more or less stayed about the same in terms of readers heaping praises — or casting stones — on featured personalities. So I’m not sure what the catalyst would have been for this recent admonition from Norman. But I guess it needed to be said — and Norman has every right to do so. It is his blog after all.

My advice to girls joining pageants who read this blog: Keep reading Norman’s blog — but unless you’re the type who take things too personally or are too thin-skinned — just stay clear of the comments section dearies. Such is the dual nature of Philippine pageantry — it is figuratively a blood sport — that is why it’s so dynamic, beautiful, exciting, and cruel — all at the same time.

    It is what it is.โค

  21. WELL DAPAT SA BLOGGER IWASAN DIN ANG PAG OOVER HYPE SA ISANG CANDIDATE PARA DI MABWISIT ANG MGA READERS, HALATA DIN NAMANG ME PINAPABORAN. GAYA NA LANG NG BIANCA GUIDOTTI NA YAN NA SUPER PAPURI TALAGA SYA AT PRENIDICT PA NYANG MANANALO NOON SA MI, AS IN SUPER CONFIDENT TALAGA SYA NA MANANALO ANG KANYANG DEAR BAINCA AT KESYO FIRST TIME TIME RAW SA HISTORY NG MI NA MAGBABACK TO BACK WINNERS DAW ANG PILIPINAS. ANONG NANGYARI?

Medyo slight na na-off ako nun…However, very nice nga I’m sure si BG sa kanya, that’s why the love has been reciprocated.

    Peace to everybody.

  23. I agree with you on most points. But Sir Norman, you yourself is partly to blame: there are times when your feature is unfair to certain candidates and biased to another. You have articles in this blog that favors a certain camp and a little abbhorent to a group.

I am expressing it here so that in the future you will weigh whether or not an article is prejudicial to a candidate. And that fairness is observed always. You have an award-winning blog, you have a greater responsibility to maintain its credibility.

The mere fact that you have a theses presented today in your portal manifest that you yourself recognized the ‘becoming ugly’ culture of Filipino pageant fans. And it is a nice start for change. Regards Sir and let’s resume again with Binibining Pilipinas. Is February 24, the day we will know the candidates?

  24. Filipino fans were exposed to first rate queens in so short a time such that we started demanding world class performance from them. Mediocrity has become unacceptable and excellence has become the norm. In due time, Filipino fans will mature and when the dust styles, we will find acceptance in the humanity of our beauty queens too.

  25. Not really. Its just there are some people who comment here are quite know it alls. Na parang alam na nila lahat and Im sure they havent even competed in a pageant maski declamation contest man lang. And then of course, there are the extreme cases of those na parang walang breeding. Yung sobrang below the belt na makapanlait. Na kulang na lang isumpa nila ang mga girls that are competing na wala man lang silang ginagawang masama. Theres a fine line talaga between constructive criticism and just being a mean person.

I would think these people are just bad apples in a bunch.
