Like a mermaid posing in front of the ladies, you have to take me as the focus for now

First of all, please accept my apologies if I cannot upload the frontal photos of the ladies just yet. Everyone who attended were requested by Aces & Queens to refrain from posting obvious shots first for justified reasons. There is no still no guarantee that all twenty-four (24) beauties presented will make it as Binibinis for Bb. Pilipinas 2017. To avoid any untoward online remarks or banters about one lady making it or not, we all agreed to have their clear photos posted only after the final selection has been made.But rest assured, a lot of the girls I have previously blogged – and easily identified as trained by Aces & Queens – are part of this group of two dozen hopefuls. The usual suspects were present, such as Charmaine Elima, Dindi Pajares, Mariel de Leon, Arienne Calingo, Jehza Huelar, Chanel Olive Thomas and Katarina Rodriguez. These are just seven (7) names so far. So between now and February 27, there will be some guessing game among all of you as to who the other seventeen (17) are.

You want a few clues? There is a Filipina-Mestiza who studied in Barcelona but with both parents certified Pinoys. There is a professional model who is just a tad shy of 6 feet tall from way up north. And there is a tall camp crossover whose name I just cannot reveal for the meantime.

All I can say for now is that this is a strong group of contenders. A little more than a few of them may still be raw and inexperienced, but they make up for the lack of pageant exposure with impressive communication skills and facial features that aren’t easy to forget.

By the way, it was also a mock pageant where the initial standouts were given special prizes by sponsors and cash rewards by the pillars of Aces & Queens. The panel of judges in this part included Mafae Yunon, Christi McGarry, Bianca Guidotti and Jennifer Hammond. Miss Grand International 2016 1st Runner-Up Nicole Cordoves hosted the entire program.

In addition, the ladies were dressed in gowns by new A&Q house designers (and friends) Mikee Andrei, Pablo Mendez and Claiza Bihasa. Shoes provided by Jojo Bragais. And the host venue was Mahyuree Ballroom 1 of Dusit Thani Manila.

  1. I saw Athisa Manalo… I believe she’s joinning BBP this year… wow, such a classic beauty… The Miss Photogenic title is already resserved.

  4. I love A&Q but lol at the secrecy. It’s like for suspense talaga. Pa drama.

    Just like the last minute gown dramas with Pia and Maxine. Pa arte arte!

    Are they concerned they have not made sure everyone can demonstrate residency and/or is clear of boobie shots that give SMA palpitations?

    • Patience is a virtue! Ha ha. Can’t wait to see their slate especially the fresh new faces. Do we have another Pia or Kylie or Ann? Abangan! Two weeks to go

      • Actually I hope we have another Shamcey for Universe. Her substance and accomplishments seem to be what IMG is rewarding.

        Enough na of the Asian child labor breadwinner sob stories. Pia and Megan were a stunners so they could pull off that cliche (before it became one).

        IMG wants a winner who inspires, not a pity party (that’s just semis filler material). Save the MMK stories for the lesser pageants, incl MWP.

      • i agree with justgrc. IMG wants a winner who inspires. That’s why I bet for Arienne Calingo. I saw on facebook that she was awarded best in interview during their mock pageant. She will be quite the inspiration!

    • That was after the coronation. The wounds were super fresh at that time. I’m sure if Jonas wants her then they’ll try to convince her.

      • Di pa raw sya nakamove-on 4M, ibigay daw muna ni Julia ang blue crown or aminin sa lahat na syay dinaya bago sya mag-move on hihihi charette lang 🙂

  9. Norm I am confused with your statement. Are all these girls applying to be a Binibini or A&Q will choose which ones they want to field for Binibini? 24 seems like more than half the total contenders every year. This is a bit alarming in a sense that they are taking over the entire competition and it is not allowing for a healthy rivalry and competition amongst training camps. Just my two cents.

      • Exactly b, the independent ones might be forced to actually withdraw or join a camp knowing how the odds could be against them in the first place.

    • 4M hindi naman sure na all 24 of them will make it as officia; candidates. syempre pwede naman may candidates from other camps na better than some of those in the 24, in That sense may healthy competition pa rin

      • Understood but the sheer amount of aspirants obviously increases the odds that a lot of them are getting in. I think BbP should impose a limit on how many entrants each camp could have every year. This allows for fiercer competition and smarter moves by everyone.

      • 4M pero you also have to remember that some of these girls have lives outside the world of pageantry. hindi nila alam kailan pa darating yung next opportunity for them to compete other than now. tapos yung iba naman ala Pia, try and try until manalo. kaya i think unfair kung lalagyan ng limit ang finifield ng mga camps. lahat naman sila babae, lahat sila gustong maging binibini. Nagkataon lang na silang lahat ay piniling magtrain under A&Q

        At saka, among themselves, may healthy competition pa rin. after all, isang babae lang ang mag uuwi ng MUP, kaya lahat sila kailangan na magstep up, to rise above the rest
