    1. .. may mali sa pag interpret…ng interpreter… “Significant Change…..into… ” makabuluhang naganap na pangyayari na nakita mo sa loob ng sampung taon..” ng sinagot niya sa English… the judges would make an impression that she is unresponsive….in fact, she was responsive to the tagalog question… However the real issue in the question is “SIGNIFICANT CHANGE”..
    2. mahirap din sa kanya ang mag answer sa Tagalog.. because she was not being rehearsed and used to it…She was trained to answer the question in English for more than a year…. at biglang sabihin magtagalog ka na lang na walang practice…
    4. saka mahirap sagutin ang tanong…in a few seconds, kailangan mong mag recollect ng mga events that has a significant change in the world for the past 10 years? at pumili doon kung ano ang isasagot.?. buti sana kung homework yan. makapag research ka pa at makapagsagot ng bonggang-bongga.

Please let us be HAPPY for her…. she made us proud by making it to the TOP 6…. malaking karangalan na iyon para sa bansa natin. Kung di sana sumali sina Miss Kenya, Colombia, France, Thailand, at Haiti eh di siya sana yung nanalo..

  2. WELGA TAYO BEZ

QUESTION: What is the most significant change youโ€™ve seen in the world in the last 10 years?

    change= pagbabago
    naganap na pangyayari= events

so ang sagot nya is yung miss universe event ang isa sa pinaka makabuluhan kaganapan nakita nya in last 10 years because thru that event daw all nation are gather together as one.

kung iisipin mo me sense ang sagot nya dun sa tagalog na tanong but malayo sa english question

  3. Congrats Ms France. And thank you for breaking this myth that winners name should end with an “A”

My other top 3 Phils & Brazil failed to the Top but I’m proud of maxine being in the magic 6.
Brazil’s answer sa top 13 is not strong at Di pa confident sumagot.
Kenya failed in defending her fellow kenyan Obama which is the President of MUO, sayang.
An0ng rank kaya ni Maxine hihihi.
Country of the year at Grandslam pa rin ang Pilipinas na kiniclaim ng Indonesia in advance.
Maghilamos muna sila bago magyabang. .. tse, di ba Fabian, Cocoy and jeremi hihihi

  5. MGA LOLAS, INENGS, HIJAS, TITAS, DITSES, ATENGS, ATBP. FRANCE NA ANG NAGWAGI! LAHAT KAYO NEVER NAG VOTE SA KANYA. KINAIN NYO MGA HOTDOGS NG PAPAS NYO FOR DISREGARDING HER. KAYA UTANG NA BUOT MATULOG NA KAYO AT MAMAHINGA NA NG TULUYAN ANG MGA GAGANG NAG PREDICT NG KUNG SINO SINO.IT WAS A WIN WELL-DESERVED. SA MGA CHAROT NA NAG PREDICT NA MANALO SI THAILAND, SUSMARYOSEP NAMAN MGA INENG! MAGPAAYOS NA KAYO NG MATA NYO NA OBVIOUS NAMAN NA CROSS-EYED NA! O DI KAYA MAGPAKABIT NA KAYO NG TRIPLE BISTA! ANG CHI CHEAP NYO! MISS UNIVERSE IS ABOUT ELEGANCE. AND MISS FRANCE HAD THAT THE MOMENT SHE STEPPED ON PHILIPPINE SOIL! AND SA INYO NA MGA WALANG PINAG ARALAN NA WALANG GINAWA KUNDI MAMBASH NG KAPWA PINOY, SANA NAMAN MALAGOT NA HININGA NYO PARA DI NA KAYO MAGHASIK NG LAGIM AT WALA NA MAGBIBIGAY NG KAHIHIYAN SA BANSA NATIN. THE PHILIPPINES IS ONCE AGAIN THE COUNTRY OF THE YEAR FOR THE ACHIEVEMENT ATTAINED BY OUR CANDIDATE IN MISS UNIVERSE. I REST MY CASE AND I WILL NEVER EVER BE AFFECTED SA PAMBA BUSH NYO (IF EVER) BECAUSE WE’RE NOT IN THE SAME LEAGUE! AND OBVIOUSLY WE DO NOT BELONG IN THE SAME STRATA. BABUSH!

  6. A top 6 finish is already a noteworthy achievement! Congrats Max. From the start we already knew hear weakness is her ability to express her ideas solidly, spontaneously and substantially but despite all of these, she did made us proud. Move on na ako at may pagkaabalahan na naman ako sa Sabado kasi UAAP na! Go ADMU! ONE BIG FIGHT! Till next time guys!!! God bless!

  7. So proud of Maxine, she did her part to her very best with what she got. But when Miss France answered her question during the top 6, I knew she got it even when Miss Haiti and Miss Colombia did very well, too. The question and the answer that Miss France gave is very relevant to what’s happening today in the U.S. with Pres. Trumps executive order. He banned entry to the U.S. from 7 Muslim nations and halted the refugees entry program to the U.S. He’s also working towards taxing Mexican goods to finance building a wall. To top it all, look at what’s happening in her own country (France) with terrorism. So she was indeed the surefire winner that makes Miss Universe in touch with current events and make it really relevant in this world..

  8. Ms. Colombia looked disappointed upon learning she’s second runner up…
Anyway, this is my last comment. See you again next year. Back to school na ang focus ng lola nyo. Adios!

  9. Ganda ng laban ng TOP 2 bes. Whew! Naging sacrificial lamb sya bes.

Pero yes! Philippines is still the country of the year 2016. #big4

    • Francine Lefrak is of French Ancestry… pasok din Canada and Haiti who are both former colonis of France.

  10. Interesting how France never really expected to win. She even mouthed the word “Congrats” to Miss Haiti, just before she was announced as Miss Universe! โค

  11. On a personal note, it was surreal to hear Boyz II Men perform. Sabi nga ng tweet ni Titas of Manila, parang Ovation Productions presents Boyz II Men live in Manila.

    It makes one feel…old.

  12. YES FRANCE!!!! So happy! Very beautiful Miss Universe!!!!

    Congratulations, Iris!

    Mabuhay Pilipinas!

    • BONGGAAA! I LOVE IT kahit sino naman sakanila ni Haiti.. pero mas bet ko si france! Gandara Park!!!!! and basta hindi canada and kenya. lalong hindi colombia and indo charot

      • TOTOO! Kahit sino sa kanila ni Haiti talaga OK na Ok, pero iba yung feeling ko kay France, as in iba talaga.

      • Magaan ang pakiramdam kay Miss France ๐Ÿ˜‰ She comes off as very genuine.

  13. a top 6 finish is still an achievement! the thought was there. i get it. unity.. but she couldve said a more solid example like the tacloban and all. but still.. Max did her best. I’m convinced with her performance.. it couldve been better but if that’s really her destiny, fine with me.

Mas naangatan niya si Venezuela, Nicaragua and all.

    anyway, congrats Maxine!

    • Yes, Max did us proud! Top 6 is a tough feat. She did her best. Let’s move on and leave Max positive comments.

    • Na curious tuloy ako kung ano mga sinagot niya sa closed-door interview.. she reminds me of this girl winning Miss America Pageant in Miss Congeniality. ganon sya magsalita. haha

  14. French speakers are up in arms against the interpreter. Apparently, Iris never mentioned a “casting” but was talking about “med school.”

I thought Iris’ answer was better than Haiti’s. It was a very personal failure that she shared and she has a very upbeat message about having other opportunities.

Haiti’s failure was not an actual failure. Her exhortation was also very pageant patty, although the delivery was definitely good.

    • Correct ka diyan, pautwas. Tsaka hindi siya ninerbiyos. Kalma lang siya sa pagsagot. Very poised. Very Miss Universe lol

      • She also said she bought a medicine book, and was not “in a book.” For goodness’ sake!

        Well deserved win, France!

  15. why is the bitch crying??? I honestly loathe Colombians; for all their beauty they’re such ruthless fucks..

    • ..colombia is a sweet girl in person.. She lacks the maturity tho to take on the job now.. 2RU is a good finish..altho I was hoping it could be her and France as last 2 standing.. But she was tensed and it showed.. And I miss her curly locks during dress rehaersls which suits her best on stage.. Will miss u Andrea!

  16. Wow haiti part filipino her grand mother is a filipina
    Haiti- winner
    France -runner up
    Colombia -2nd runner up
For me according to their answer

  17. If Ms. Haiti wins, I hope true assistance would come to her nation, as opposed to the scam that this couple pulled in the name of money and power:

    • Verifiable facts ba yan? Yun mga youtube videos is a GOP machinery. Careful where you get your sources nowadays. Malaki ang galit ni Putin sa Clintons.

      • You mean the made up “Russian Intervention” controversy? Julian Assange made it very clear that his source are actually DNC insiders that are disgusting with the corruption going on in their party.

      • You can ask Hatian how much these a-holes made money at their country’s expense.

“Related rumors of the Clintons’ relationship to Haiti appeared in October 2016, this time alleging that after the Haiti’s infrastructure was devastated by a major earthquake in 2010, the State Department steered relief contracts to personal friends of the Clintons. However, while Hillary Clinton did recommend specific companies to help with the rebuilding process and e-mails have surfaced indicating that special attention was given to “FoBs” (“Friends of Bill”), there’s no evidence that the United States government awarded contracts to any of those contenders.”

  18. My Miss Universe is Miss France! ๐Ÿ™‚ This is a beauty contest … so beauty pa lang, talbog na si Colombia at Haiti.

Her answer didn’t sound too pageant betty. Genuine and sincere.

  19. Congratulations Ms. Philippines. You did us proud.

Any of the top three will be a decent and credible choice.

    My heart goes to France.

    World Peace.

  20. CONGRATS MAXXXX!!! WE ALL KNOW YOU CAN COMPETED WITH BEAUTY BUT WE KNOW YOUR WEAKNESS BUT NEVERTHELESS IT IS AN ACCOMPLISHMENT THAT YOU KEPT THE TOP 5-6TH FINISH IN THE LAST 5-6 YEARS…. THANK YOU! IM WITH FRANCE-HAITI-COLOMBIA FOR THE WIN. I THINK THAT HAITI COULD PULL OFF THE UPSET THOUGH. SHE IS VERY ELOQUENT AS WELL.

  21. Max still turned in a decent performance. Couldn’t fault her or the judges about that already impressive placement. You still made us proud, Maximus!

  22. It’s not the GOWN. It’s the Q&A! hahaha Congrats, Max! Top 6 is a great achievement already.

  23. As I Said literally just an hour ago

    And the Q&A proved that

She didnt even let the interpret translate

sHe could have took advantage of that that and given herself a few extra seconds to think

    Hayyy… kainis.

  24. OMG.. it might be between Kenya, Colombia, France and Haiti! 3 have black ancestry… The politicaly polarizing question for Kenya and France means they are not the bet of the Org… so its between Colombia and Haiti!

  25. If i rank the 6 physically , ill go with :

    France
    Haiti
    Philippines
    Kenya
    Thailand
    Colombia

    Lets see. I got bored

I wish she elaborated more ๐Ÿ™‚

      I love France’s answer!

    • As much as I would live for Maxine to win, her answer was very lacking and did not speak to a larger cause or connect to a larger global audience (what Sushmita referred to). It’s a shame because she is so beautiful in every way, but she just doesn’t have the quick intelligence that Haiti, France, or even Colombia showed in their answers. I feel bad for Kenya and the question she received. That is hard to answer in 30 seconds. Thailand predictably talked about the King.

  26. Tinatanong talaga ni Harvey ang judges about who stands out and what they’re looking for. Even without the scores flashing on the screen, you at least still get that sense of transparency. Love it.

  27. So far nagkatotoo nga ang hula… 3 girls with black ancestry would make the TOP 5…. Kenya, Haiti, & Colombia… And the winner is suppose to come from a country between North Pacific and the South Atlantic… thats Haiti & Colombia… and eventualy a black girl is predicted to win.. So it might be between Kenya and Haiti

  28. hahahaha its not the GOWN. Its the LADY! Ayan Top 6 na ate ninyo hahaha..

2nd Runner Up or Back to back ito! Dalawa lang to. hahahaha

  30. 2 Asians, 1 Latina, 1 European, 1 African, and 1 Carribean.

If it wasn’t a deliberate attempt at diversity, then KUDOS!

  31. Omg.

Am I correct that it is Rhett Eala’s creation, right? Maganda lang ng konti kesa kay Canada. Mukhang pasok pa sa top 6 si Thailand. Kaka-stress.

  33. WAIT!!! IBA GOWN NI MAX!!! im not sure about it but she looked gorgeous as usual. parang gown ni Migbelis na red!! NAKAKALOKA!!!

      • No jonas said in an interview last night that she’ll be wearing the red gown she wore sa finals (pictured above) and asked the name of the designer. Jonas said Cherry Veric.

  35. If Maxine answered the way she did when they called out the top 13, she’d be fine..all she needs to hurdle the top 3 is to make her answer just a tad serious and paso na siya…

    • Maxine will do fine. I believe hindi sila pabaya. she just need to enter the top 6 then okay na ako!

    • if sa gandahan lang, I think it’s going to be PH vs. FRANCE

But if rampahan, PH vs. Mexico vs. Thailand vs. Mexico

if wit US vs. Kenya vs. Isasama ko pa rin si PH!

      if politics Canada vs. Kenya.

      pero go maxine!!!!!

  36. Fearless forecast revised 2.0 now that Venezuela is out. France, Thailand, and Brazil for top 3. No bash, no drama, just pure performance.

  37. Top 9
    1. USA
    2. Thailand
    3. France
    4. Mexico
    5. Kenya
    6. Colombia
    7. Canada
    8. Haiti
    9. Philippines

    • MU – Miss Philippines
      1st RU – don’t care who
      2nd RU – don’t care who

      Go Maria Mika Maxine!!!!

  38. Everyone in top 13 is wel spoken and articulate

Even Thailand — she is quite articulate in her own native tounge

    Si Maxine lang and hindi

    Totoo to. Aminin!!

    • Well, nasabi mo na lang din. She’s articulate sa salitang Filipino. like what you’ve said to Thailand. so puhlease. *roll eyes*

    • I don’t think she was even plus-size when she won Miss Universe-Canada. Tinamad lang mag-prepare, “special” na?

  39. No

Venezuela -The surgery is sending the opposite message of being happy with who you are… Syria and Venezuela are not in good terms with the US and best of all, the Terno incident must be true!
    Nicaragua- low sashfactor and credentials
    Australia – Too young?
Sierra Leonne- No space for her?
Curacao- Wow! I really thought she would make it!
Kosovo- She lacks the academic credentials of the others perhaps?

It seems that they are building-up Canada…
    Ughh…

Walang Venezuela… Sira ang Psychic predictions!

  40. Labanan na ng back story ito coz this top 13 got high score in interview. Canada and USA me edge, lalo na English ang language.

    • HANA KO I FEEL CANADA, USA AND KENYA (SHE’S COMFORTABLE AND CONFIDENT)… I HOPE FRANCE CAN MAKE IT… GANDA GANDA!

    • But mind you, only Dayanari judged at the prelims, is that right?? The 13 semi-finalists i think is solely the final decision of the MUO itself…

  41. Swimsuit round:
    1. everyone will see Colombia’s fat ass
    2. everyone will see Indonesia’s flat ass

  42. A lot of great girls were culled:
    1. Aruba
    2. Nicaragua
    3. Malaysia
    4. Venezuela
    5. Dominican Republic
    6. Kosovo
    7. Argentina

      • we sort of knew though @4M that one or two of the frontrunners will fall off…so sad it had to be Venezuela…so hoping it would be Colombia, but the swimsuit round will take care of that because there’s only one slot for one big girl and that’s for Canada..

  43. My heart fall to miriam. Di be sa prelim its purely catwalk or papano nila dinadala ang damit. Nangunguna si miriam dun. So sad for her

  44. Wow, no Venezuela! Being Syrian-Venezuelan (both countrues are now Enemies of the US) really took a toll on her… and maybe she did took that terno costume from some1 else.

    • C2F…hmmm? Food for thought…
How about rejecting NOT Venezuela, but the blonde-blue green eyes look.
All 13 ladies are women of color, if I’m not correct…

    • Was that the case? That’s a bit of a stretch, really. We’re not that shallow here in the US. Miss U [and pageants in general] are not really that popular in the US, and so I don’t think it will cause that much of an uproar if she made the semis, and even if she won. With all the SJWs here though, they may even hail her inclusion in the top 13 because of her Syrian ancestry. Have you seen the news lately, of how people went to the airports to protest Trump’s latest decree?

I’m thinking of two other possibilities, TBH.

      1. Rumors are Mariam only won because she has wealthy parents who showered the cash-strapped Osmel with mucho dinero. She may have been doomed from the start, not being conventionally beautiful that even Osmel’s magic could do nothing to help her.

      2. Was it true that Mariam was the candidate who stole another candidates Filipiniana gown so she could stand out? Apparently the designers organizing the event knew about it, but it was unclear if the MUO/IMG people were made aware of it. Would it have changed their minds if they found out about her scheming ways?

    • actually very diverse ng MU ngayon. Black host, asian winner, gay red carpet host, asian co host sa red carpet, plus size insider host latina judge, african judge.. di ba?

    • So tama ‘yong theory ni Melanie!!! ๐Ÿ™‚

I really don’t mind having Canada. It does show diversity when it comes to body type. Hindi na lahat eh puro skinny.

  45. 8th spot si Maxine! Meaning hindi fan vote.. and she performed well sa prelims!! HINDI TAYO SALING PUSA MGA BES!

    CHAROT

      • SO UNFAIR HANA KO.. ITS NOT THAT SHE HAS BEEN THAT WAY BUT SHE PLANNED IT…. ALAM NA!! VOTE PHILIPPINES!!!

  46. Regardless of what happens tonight, I couldn’t be more proud of Maxine. In spite of the negativity that has been cast in her direction, she has risen above it all and has been/is a stand out candidate. She is the beauty and determination that is The Philippines and its people. Go for the back to back Maxine. There are many standing behind you, praying for your, our, success.

That said, if the powers that Be decide that tonight is not Maxine’s night, I throw my support to Miss Sierra Leone. She truly has the heart of a Filipina with same determination to go against the odds. She is a unique and graceful beauty who has overcome much to get here. I applaud her and hope the best for her tonight. Regardless, she is now an honorary Filipina.

Norman, much of what I’ve said above can also be applied to you. It’s the height of MU season and the claws have come out, even between friends. We may not always agree but you continue on and keep your focus. You too are a great representation of the Filipino determination and grace under fire. Carry on dear Norman. I, for one, am proud of you.

  47. Australia looks and sounds too young . France too old? Aruba has some masculine angles.
    Barbados?
How they look tonight will determine who wins

  48. I will stick with this 13 (random)

    Jamaica
    Namibia
    Chile
    Nicaragua
    Venezuela
    Philippines
    Georgia
    Brazil
    Aruba
    Belize
    Croatia
    Curacao
    Haiti

    that s just me

  49. Fsahion pulis posted a photo of Pia’s farewell walk gown and it was deleted. Nag comment si Pia ng disappointed emojis.

    • sarado daw ang parlor.. kaya ang mga babae ngayong ikinasal ay nagpa make up a day before… walang hilamos hanggan wedding day/night

    • Not really. Maxine’s mom just said that Emerald Green is Max’s favorite color since she was born in May. Jonas confirmed last night that Maxine will be wearing a red Cherry Veric gown.

  52. Hi, can someone who is confidently beautiful with a big heart share me the live streaming link please

  53. Good luck to our Philippine representative, Miss Maxine Medina, on her quest for the Miss Universe crown.
With your strong performance in the prelims, a spot in the semifinals is expected.
And please, just have fun!!! This is a once in a lifetime opportunity that only happens every 20 + years. Savor every moment and may this inspire you to be the best version of yourself later in the competition.
May the stars align in your favor. Mabuhay ka !!!!!

  54. So I just learned that there will again be two rounds of Q&A! One for top 6, and one for top 3 — contrary to past announcement that only the top 6 will go through Q&A.

If (and when) Maxine makes it, I hope her nerves won’t get the better of her.

  55. Hi Maxine,

This is it! In a few hours Miss Universe is about to start. I already feel the nerves!

I feel your genuine desire to clinch a back-to-back win for our country. Yes, it is not easy to achieve it. But, knowing how you labored hard for this, you deserve the Miss Universe crown on your head.

Just recently, you showed your humility when you decided to get a stand-by interpreter for the QnA. You are the first MU rep of our country to decide on this, and I love that. I know how critical to go on that idea because, being a college graduate from a reputable school, bashers might critique you on that (these bashers are the same people who berate your ability to speak English, no wonder). You have been ridiculed, but you stood firm though you remain on your ground. God never sleeps. “He who humbles himself shall be exalted.”

You can make it! Nail it!

    Best of luck,
    Ate Ana

  57. #GoMaxineGo

Here#s to a fabulous MU pageant!

    Norman, enjoy the big time๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

  59. @bong700, re- Norman as a possible interpreter. I have nothing against Norman’s oral English . I was actually impressed with his interview on CNN .. I mean, for someone who grew up in Bulacan, his grammar and diction were okay.
But we need someone who speaks both Tagalog and American English like Charlene the Guitierrez siblings or Derek.
    No to Boy Abunda.
No to Miriam Defensor if she was alive .

      • Sabi ko .
His personality on tv diSappointed me . He hardly smiled and talked with ‘air of superiority’
This was in contrast to the pics he posts on the blog-?with him all smiley posing like a real BQ.
I’m probably not the only one with this impression.
        Bong, aminin ! Tse hihihi!

    • He talks like a lawyer. Authoritative. And that is a good thing if you are to be believed by people. You have to appear sure of what you are saying.

    • Napanood ko si Tito Norms sa Kapuso Mo Jessica Soho kagabi, and he got his 15-minute of fame there. Kung maka-flash back s’ya about Miss U, winner! May K talaga s’ya to be a beauty pageant blogger. Accordingly, they favored other countries win in their hyping para ma-condition ang isipan ng mga fans. Eh, nagkabukingan, tiklo ang mga bekibels. They dis cover the pageants diumano for some personal gains. Dapat red flag na ‘yun sa mga TV show na kunin sila for their views and opinions. Kaloka!

Back to Tito Norms. Kung kukunin s’yang interpreter? My comment is… I’d love him to blog na lang punto-for-punto about the goings-on sa Miss U. Para updated tayo.

  60. I feel good kasi nasa fighting form naman si Maxine.
Let’s just pray for her to win #ForThePhilippines ๐Ÿ™‚

      • Pero sabi nga ni Miss Kagandahang Gloria Diaz, you don’t need to be the most beautiful or the tallest candidate to be Miss Universe.

      • Gloria Diaz was lucky . Like what some people mentioned here , she wasn’t the prettiest and the most articulate in the batch . In fact , her goodbye speech was very hard to under stand.

In fairness to her , she improved a lot post-Miss U. She was uber-gorgeous during MU 1974. And her movies showed how classy and gorgeous she was

      • Gloria Diaz? Isa s’yang hamonadang actress. Akala mo kagandahan at magaling. I reviewed her interview nung Miss U, mali din naman ang English n’ya. Witty lang s’ya.

Bilib ako kay Maxine, especially her humility. For a college graduate from a reputable school, hindi ganun kadali magdesisyon to get an interpreter.

Magwa-walk out kaya ang matandang inggrata?

      • @ana, Maxine didn’t sound really bad during BP 2015. She just lost her train of thought after the audience started booing her when she paused to think . But …
Her interviews post-win showed how uncomfortable she was with public speaking -be it in English or Tagalog… which is not surprising.
It takes s life time of training to be able to talk well on public . Pia has been in showboz since age 9 so she had a lot of exposures.

      • @Ana, magandang idea yan. I want to see her reaction pag nanalo si Maxine. Lagi kasi tactless itong si GD. It’s ok to be frank and honest, kaso sya hindi maganda delivery, di pinag-iisipan kung makakasakit ba o makakatulong. Anyway, I still respect her for being Gloria Diaz.

Naka-leave din naman ako because it coincides with my mom’s birthday. I just got back home here in Alabang. Dito kami magbu-viewing party.

Na-watch ko na rin naman ang preliminary. Ok na ‘yun. I have something to tell na to my future kids and the future kids of my future kids. Kalokang future. Hihihi!

      • @ana, I hope you have had some of your eggs frozen.otherwise , ur only option is adoption or an immaculate conception tse hihihi

Lahat nalang may commento keso ganito ganyan.

    • Its ok it’s ok to criticize
It helps bring the best out of our reps.
Besides, the reps put themselves in that position to be judged based on their physical appearance among other things . They are in the wrong business if they take it personally.

  62. Past experience with dress rehearsals usually contains majority fillers with a few strong who MUO wants to give more stage practice. This dress rehearsal list confirms my opinion that Brazil and Indonesia are frontrunners and both should go very far. Also confirms Colombia and France’s likely inclusion into semis and probably Top 10. Had to make room for Chile and Curacao who were not on my final short list but close enough (sorry Jamaica and Nicaragua). Philippines’ exclusion is not a surprise, she doesn’t need any more stage practice (although I was very surprised to see Pia go all the way to Top 5 last year during Vegas dress rehearsal). Venezuela’s exclusion isn’t surprising either (I don’t recall Venezuela making any recent dress rehearsal list, I think in the last decade!)

My predictions (I average 60-70% accuracy though lol):

    Personal fave:

    Argentina

    For sure:

    Brazil
    Colombia
    France
    Indonesia
    Philippines
    Venezuela

    Likely:

    Chile
    Curacao
    Mexico

    Sierra Leone
    Thailand
    USA

    Maybes:

    Canada
    Czech Republic
    Jamaica
    Netherlands
    Nicaragua
    Poland
    Ukraine

GOOD LUCK TO ALL THE LADIES and HOPE EVERYONE THERE IN THE PHILIPPINES ENJOYS!!!

    • My 2 friends who worked in the MU tv production team said that producers make the girls who will be in the top 12-15 practice especially if they are unaware of the possibility that they will be included. Girls who are known to be popular and are good on stage do not need more practice.

      • Yes, Franco. I think Colombia, France, and Indonesia are all in but need more stage time. Curacao and Chile I think are the two surprises (but not really) who need the extra practice too.

To go through dress rehearsal is just that much more tiring. Why make a ready candidate waste her energy. Plus give some girls who don’t have a chance some stage time.

I remember when Aileen Leng Damiles went all the way to 1st runner up in dress rehersals in 1996 (was there).

I remember when Zuleyka Rivera didn’t even bother to do her hair and makeup for dress rehearsals in 2006 (was there).

I remember when Pia, well, we all know what happened in 2016 … my theory for her dress rehearsal placement was because MUO wanted to give her practice time in her winning blue gown that she didn’t get to wear during prelims (was there too!)

Even though I am not in Manila, I still feel like I am there today. Need to go to the gym and work off all this adrenaline and nervous energy HAHAHA. Then I’m disconnecting from the web to avoid spoiler alerts due to our West Coast tape delay. Gonna make a special Miss Universe dinner for me and my BF who has never watched Miss Universe ever LOL.

So happy for my fellow Filipinos making their own Miss Universe memories there at MOA. It should be a good show!

  63. That’s the gown that she should have worn during the prelims. A showstopper! The emerald ballroom dancing gown would have been more appropriate for the red carpet. And Gaffud can finally claim that it’s red carpet style. What a waste of opportunity to be on top during the prelims.

    • I think the green worked as it was different. Red is a very common color. Plus Peru’s big ass red dress centerstage would have overpowered this more subtle one.

I DO LOVE HER STYLING HERE. Enough with the buns already.

  64. Let’s move on from the gown. Let us instead help by coming up with possible questions and hopefully relay it to Maxine or Nad Bronce (her trainor for Q&A). I know MUO might not touch politics but theu could allude to leadership as it is very timely. They might as questions like “What is an effective way to influence the public as a leader?”

    • Good feedback, Hana Ko.

What about women’s equality in the current world? Does she think that women have achieved that goal? Why or why not?

Pia was asked a political question last year. Being Miss Universe, you need to stay in tuned with the current events. I would also let them prepare Max with events unfolding in the US and Europe, especially with the recent ban on Muslims on US soil and Brexit. What is Maxine’s stance on these events? It’s not just about “We need world peace. I thank you.” anymore. Max needs to make her answer short but strong in words.

  65. Hay nakuh gown nanaman! The fact that never change is the element of surprise. Kahit anung gown naman yan at merong mag aalipusta. I remember catriona my Bet magaling sumagot na pero talagang ganun ang destiny. So my dear Maxine may you have all the stars. I’m proud Filipino and I’m proud of you. Just to impart this notion. The science of gown creations.

  66. NAKAKAKABA JUSKO ADDED PRESSURE YAN KAY MAXINE TO FEEL COMFORTABLE WITH THE NEW GOWN AND STYLING. I STILL SAY STICK TO THE BUN LOOK. CLEAN ALTA TO SHOW HER MAALIWALAS NA FEZ.

  67. My winner spot is still Philippines but my #s 2&3 keeps changing. I feel like it’s Aruba for 2 and Brazil 3. Hay naku, stop thinking of 2 & 3 na nga, focus nlang sa winner. Very good vibe and prayers for Maxine, and God bless BPCI, beauty camps, bloggers (esp. Tito Norms), and all pageant fans. Let’s all be kind, keep the winning streak, and Mabuhay Philippines!!!

  68. My last top 12:

    Curacao
    France
    Philippines

    Venezuela
    Nicaragua
    USA

    Brazil
    Thailand
    Canada
    Indonesia
    Aruba
    Australia

    Sierra Leone

    Alternates: Colombia/PuertoRico/Haiti/Spain/
    Dominican Republic/Kosovo/Barbados/Panama/
    SriLanka/Malaysia/Argentina/Singapore/India

  69. I’m starting to wonder about that mock top 13…. mahihimatay ako pag hindi pumasok si max sa top 6…

    • They didn’t include Maxine coz of the loud Pinoy crowd during rehearsals. The loud cheering is ok live, but during rehearsal it is too distracting. I’m confident that Maxine will be in the top 6, if not, I will doubt the fairness of judging.

      • @hana ko, let’s aim for a top 3… for the sake of the millions watching her.its never been a fun Miss U show without Philippines among the last standing.
I always turn off the tv once Philippines is eliminated .i don’t see the pt of watching it further.

  70. Why Change? She looked great at preliminary? At least yung buhok – like the prelim- she looked clean and very ‘chic’ not ‘matronic’ like Thailand and some other girls

No to Thailand pls . Anyone but her for me

    • Thailand wil have a good chance if she gives (or via interpreter) a mind-blowing answer to Q&A. I honestly think Maxine’s thought process is better than her, even Indonesia.

  71. Not bad kaya lang very common na nyan.

  72. Top 13
    1.thailand
    2.philippines
    3.indonesia
    4.china
    5.brazil
    6.venezuela
    7.colombia
    8.sierra leone
    9. Nicaragua
    10.barbados
    11.curacao
    12.france
    13. Jamaica

    Top 9
    1.curacao
    2.sierra leon
    3. Philippines
    4.france
    5.jamica
    6.barbados
    7.brazil
    8.nicaragua
    9. Venezuela

    Top 6: 1. Philippines 2. Barbados 3. Sierra leone 4.curacao 5.france 6. Nicargua

    Top3: 1.france 2.nicaragua 3.sierra leonea

    2nd runner up: france
    1st runner up: nicaragua
    Miss universe 2016: sierra leonne

  74. My own personal thought on what may happen tomorrow…

Miss Universe… Venezuela or Brazil or France… either THE CROWN or just TOP 6 PLACEMENT.

    1st Runner Up… Philippines
    2nd Runner Up… Colombia
(Parang nararamdaman ko n ung TOP 2 last year ang mga runners-up this year.)

    Completing the TOP 6… Australia

Top 9… Thailand (but i still prefer last year’s representative)
    Indonesia
    Aruba

    Top 13… Puerto Rico
    Netherlands
    Curacao
    Belgium

    Alternates: Pageant VETERANS
Mexico… reminds me so much of Miss Puerto Rico Universe 1998
    Germany
    Panama

BUT THIS IS SUCH A STRONG BATCH…

  75. Final na to. Eto na prediction ko. You may/ may not agree with me.

    Final 3. PHILIPPINES, VENEZUELA, THAILAND.

  76. The red gown I think looks gorgeous but it’s too sparkly. It overshadows Max’s million beautiful face.

    • The gown is nice and I like it, but you are right, it takes the focus away from her face. However, from photos I’ve seen, Maxine seem comfortable and happy with it. And Maxine always look good with anything, so I’m really not worried. Wish we could see though the Rhett Eala gown she was supposed to wear.

  77. France ๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ท
    Barbados ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ง (Mock Top 3)
U.S. Virgin Islands (Mock Top 3)
    Curaรงao ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ผ (Mock Top 3)
    Brazil ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ท
    Colombia ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ด

Hopefully sila pumasok sa actual top 13!

  79. Mawalang-galang na po. Bakit naman kasi ngyaon nagkukumahog ang designers? Kesyo maikli? Di ba sukat yan, hindi naman ready-to-wear? Tsaka hindi ba nila ipinasuot kay Maxine last week? Ano ba???

O baka mas gusto natin talaga ang cramming? Last minute designer to the rescue na naman.

    • I think that’s not the real reason. I think with the final gown, Jonas keeps changing the plan based on different factors like stage backdrop, lighting, other candidates gown, stage blocking etc.. Everything needs to complement and highlight Maxine, and you can only make good assesment when everything is already in place which only happens from rehearsals to prelim. The plan keeps changing up until the last minute. And I think this is why A&Q is good at what they’re doing.

      • @Lala

      • Don’t forget kailangan ng basbas pa rin ng mashonda, este ni Madam. but yes designers should be well aware of the factors that can make some last minute changes.

Just remove the bell sleeves at pak! Yan talaga yun.

    • The design of this green gown is certainly unique & impactful. And It’s certainly well constructed & very luxe, very alta. With all due respect to the designer, however, it lack youthfulness (to my eye at least) & it also doesn’t look very Rhett. Perhaps he was designing out of his comfort zone–? Rhett does understated with subtle details that give his designs that touch of luxury. Not to say a designer can’t evolve, but bell sleeves just don’t seem to fit into the design vocabulary of Rhett’s work.

  80. anu na naman ung problem sa gown.??!!! nakita ko post ng inquirer? rhet eala is out and cherry vic in for final gown. cherry vic pala tong red gown na suot nya sa dress rehearsal. maganda din naman. sexy and shes stand out. sabi sabi maiksi daw ang final gown nya na gawa ni rhet. i dont know what gown they are talking about. the prelim gown??? pero maiksi nga din ang prelim gown nya. or ang maiksi is yung final gown? i saw sa IG na nagpost si rhet ng green gown. putsa! very queenly ang gown na yon. bigla nyang binura.
    nakakakaba talaga.
i really want maxine to win Miss Universe tomorrow morning.

  81. Maxine is flaming hot in this gown!
    – Hair style = check
    – Make up = check
    _________________
    Total = MISS UNIVERSE

    • I wish talaga na Excellent/Outstanding/Perfect lahat bukas Ana.
      Yung sa SS—- Perfect
      Sa EG——-WowowowowowoW hihihi
Miss Universe 2016 is Philippines ๐Ÿ™‚
At hindi ito panaginip ha …hihihihi

  83. My score for this gown is 9.98

I feel maswerte sa kanya yan kasi parang inspired siya sa year of the rooster.
