What is the common denominator among the three (3) international beauty pageants which crowned its 2016 winners all in a matter of three days?
Miss Philippines, of course!
First, there is Miss United Continents 2016 in Guayaquil, Ecuador won by our very own Jeslyn Santos. In the process, she became the first Asian and Filipino to finish on top in the same.
And then there is Miss Global 2016 held at the PICC Plenary Hall last Saturday. Angela Bonilla of Ecuador may have clinched the title, but her 1st Runner-Up (and closest pursuer) is Miss Philippines Camille Hirro.
Thirdly, the Miss Tourism Queen International 2016 finals was held last night in Wenzhou, China. Anu Namshir (who also took part in Miss World 2015 in Sanya) was chosen as the winner. Miss Philippines Nancy Leonard made it to the Top 10 and was given the Best in Long Gown award afterwards.
These three results speak a lot about the strong participation of the country in the global pageant stage. And the titles are not even categorized in the big league.
Wait till you see what Jennifer Hammond, Nicole Cordoves and Kylie Verzosa will do this October. 😉
@ Will : Andrea will know his fate this Friday, end of the month. Will he be “The Strong Filipino (-Italian) of September”? Will all his hard work pay off? And GCI’s?
Tapos sa Sunday, Grand Finals ng MGWP 2016. Will Mr. John Raspado be “Catriona Gay”? Nakatakot tingnan. He seems easily 6’3″. 😦
Ang lakas ng aura ni jeslyn. Parang sigain ang dating sa SS. Hinde ko sya pinapansin noon till b4 her pageant. Mexico and india was the frontrunners. But jeslyn surprise us with her winning answer. I dont thik she won bcoz of her spanish speaking during Q&A. So masasabi ko. Tama ung pag judge ng MUC. They base the winner sa Q&A like MU2015.
Congrat all contestants both male & female goodluck & goodwill.
@ Greige : She is competing “fat”? Did I read that correctly? The font is bizarre. My eyes are (—-).
Then compete as you are / as it is. Compensate by emphasizing a strength or asset. No prob. 🙂
“my body cant make it from all the stress and exhaustion. im sorry ph, im competing fat.”
mukhang napabayaan ng KF si ateng…nung june pa nakoronahan to eh…
I hope drama lang yan!
English translation of Jeslyn’s answer in Spanish during the pageant:
Asan na? wala naman translation…

eh pano naman si Imelda? sa October din ang laban niya di ba?
Manhunt is more of a modeling contest therefore height is might.. Nagulat ako, may nabungo ako dati sa House Manila na naka cap… pagtingin ko sa malayo.. si Don pala… yes hindi sya katangkaran cause in front of me, I failed to see his face because of his height…He looked good sporting a beard… and he was kissing her for everyone to see! (Yes, I havn’t got over his intolerant FB post). Anyway, regardless of that. MALAKING GOODLUCK DON! YOU NEED IT!
Strong they are indeed ! May this triumvirate’s success carry onto the next month of October. Go Jennifer, Nicole & Kylie ♥♥♥ Go Philippines 🙂
CONSISTENCY is the hallmark of a pageant powerhouse. Kahit hindi laging win, basta laging pasok sa First Cut at the very least.
Same problem as the Gentlemen : kulang sa height. Ang tatangkad ng kalaban niya! Mr. Spain is ALSO a policeman.
