Yesterday, the Pre-Judging of Mutya ng Pilipinas 2016 was held to select the ladies who will make it to the crucial first cut of the finals this coming Saturday, July 30 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater of Resorts World Manila. The thirty (30) candidates gave their individual best to the panel of judges in hopes of making the first big step towards claiming one of the crowns or an important placement for that matter.
My short-list includes a dozen of the contenders and they are: Lynette Bradford, Loudette Ali-poon, Joanna Rabe, Michelle Thorlund, Marielle Cartagena, Angela Yagaya, Dianne Lacayanga, Rianne Charlotte Kalaw, Mary Theresa Erna Gomez, Justine San Jose, Ganiel Krishnan and Renelyn Deguit.
Among the twelve ladies I named, my bets are on Justine San Jose for Mutya Asia Pacific International, Ganiel Krishnan for Mutya Tourism International and Michelle Thorlund for Mutya Overseas Communities.
Will these three fire it up all the way to the top crowns? We’ll see!
The TV telecast of Mutya ng Pilipinas 2016 will be aired iver at ABS-CBN the late morning (or 10am July 31) after the winners are crowned.
Good luck, ladies! 🙂

I’m glad Thorlund and Bradford did not win the top 2. I hope they join BP. We need facially beautiful reps to be competetive internationally .

It’s official: Miss Universe 2017 will be held in PH

MANILA – Filipino pageant fans, rejoice: the next Miss Universe pageant will be held here in the Philippines.
On Thursday, Tourism Secretary Wanda Teo announced that Miss Universe will be held in the country on January 30, 2017.
“We have a president who comes from Mindanao, and our Miss Universe is from Mindanao, so I think this is the best time for us to do the Miss Universe here in the Philippines,” she said.
“So I would like to inform everybody that the Miss Universe beauty pageant will be on January 30, 2017 here in the Philippines.”
Teo went on to assure that the government “is not going to spend a single centavo” on the international pageant.
“It will be the private sector that will shoulder the expenses,” she said, citing a budget of $11 million.
Reigning Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach recently met with President Rodrigo Duterte at Malacañang to discuss the possibility of holding the next edition of the pageant here in the country.
The Philippines has so far hosted the Miss Universe pageant twice – in 1974 and 1994.
Wurtzbach is the third Filipina to win the crown, along with Margie Moran in 1973 and Gloria Diaz in 1969.
The country will be fielding Maxine Medina, a 25-year-old interior designer who has been modelling since 2008, in next year’s pageant. She will attempt to succeed Wurtzbach, the first Filipina to win the title in over four decades.
It should be Miss Universe 2016 happening on January 30 2017!

This year’s Mutya batch is a really strong facial-wise. Had they’ve been two inches taller, they can definitely compete neck and neck with the current binibini queens. Good luck, ladies!
dex how are you?
I’m alright. Thanks for asking. Funny that your thoughtfulness got 7 disapprovals from our very insecure co-readers. Cheers!
