It did rain. But not long enough to spoil the whole show. The stage got a wee bit slippery. But nothing that good old mopping can fix. The members of the media came in full force. And it was the right time to get the Gentlemen of the Philippines Press Presentation going at the Acqua Lounge of The Sulo Riviera Hotel in Quezon City.

Thirty (30) advocacy-driven Gentlemen were given the individual spotlights in three segments – the introduction while wearing their Official Shirts provided by major sponsor Belmeré Skin Care, the swimwear portion where they flaunted their bodies in Pegarro Swim by Domz Ramos and Julius Jaguio, and the Vatican Fashion Museum part where the candidates were divided into three groups of ten and were garbed in the collections of Designers Ulysses King, Simon Ariel Vasquez and Melchor Guinto/Charles Cua.

An open mic with the Press followed after the announcement of three (3) Special Award winners – Gentlemen (Darling) of the Press and Mr New Placenta for Men going to #Gentleman23 Andrea Biondo of South Italy and Mr HEA Watch being claimed by #Gentleman14 Jason Martin of Gold Coast, Australia.

It was a very interesting Q&A with the media as the candidates gave impressive answers to the questions thrown at their direction. It just goes to show that these Gentlemen have more than good looks to offer.

    Gone are the days na mostly Big-4 Pageants ang content daily.
    Kakauyam, pakonti na ng pakonti ang commenters.
    May masingit man na beauty queen scoops e mostly yung mga favorites lang ng elitistang blogger.

    • i sort of agree with basil. gone are the days when norman interacted with the lowly and abased . his response is now limited to the who’s who in beauty pageants . it is understable though -norman’s stock in the pageant has risen significantly in the last year or so and that follows more responsibilty.

      i still think norman is the best beauty pageant blog on the internet. i’m just perplexed abt the slow traffic of comments here. i read this blog every hr on the hr and have to wait almost all day to find a new comment from a follower. why ? are these the signs that the end times of beauty pageants are coming?

Ok sana si Andrea lalo na pag palakihin ang legs na naiwan ng laki ng upperbod… Medyo magkadikit kasi mata… reminds me of Mr. World 1st Rup- Puerto Rico and Miss Universe 1st RUp- Colombia… Without a doubt, he would win a title, I just hope hindi lang sya maging 1st RUp in his international pageant.

        Based on that excerpt you quoted from me, I was reffering to Paul Renzo who’s personality and background I think fits Mr. World. My minute criticisms are only for the enhancement of his physical features, which is definitely not his “Totality”. #bitchplease

  7. If memory serves me well, I read somewhere that one “spare tire” (aka, runner-up) will be named.

    He must be well chosen. He must be the kind who is physically and intellectually ready right now and can be deployed at a moment’s notice in the event that any of the titlists are unable to compete for some reason or another (highly unlikely anyway, but what are runners-up for anyway?). He does not have the luxury of a training period or a physical transformation.

    The six (or seven?) competitions intended for the Gentlemen are spread over India, Panama, and Indonesia. Mr. Gentleman of the Philippines – Spare Tire/Runner-Up better learn basic Hindi, Panamanian Spanish (not really the same as the more popular Madrid Spanish we Filipinos are familiar with), and Bahasa Indonesia fast!

    He must possess “a strong mind”, as Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach said of anybody aiming to wear the sash “Philippines”.

    But come to think of it, shouldn’t all the titlists, and all Filipinos, possess this quality?

    BAKA MAS MAGALING PA ‘YUNG RUNNER-UP THAN THE TITLISTS. LOL!

    What does Norman mean by “taste it”? LOL

  14. Male pageants- even the so-called best of them- are ratchet. Period.

  15. The tarps at the back detract from the visual appeal of the venue. Gentlemen Charities Incorporated could have advertised themselves more discretely. Perhaps even just one tarp could have done it.

    Again, there is a good selection of faces and physiques. And what makes it even more interesting is that there is, IMHO, no single candidate with the total package physically. Everybody has a problem, whether in terms of proportion, angle, or shape. There are those who look better scowling while the others look better smiling. And less-than-perfect skin.The current crop of Gentlemen – Reniel Villareal and company – are superior to this group. A tough act to follow.

    But there is nothing that science and technology – aka, cosmetic procedures – cannot fix. The eventual winners would do well to consider them while they await their respective campaigns abroad. No worries; it is easily done nowadays and enjoys wider acceptance from the public.

    I have based only on the external. The “inner beauty” thing is another matter. Thx 4 ur patience.

    • It’s too early to tell . Last year , The only one that got everyone’s attn was Rick . Reniel only came after the fact .. I.e. After winning the title.

  16. Nakuh eto nanaman nagsasayang Lang ang mga ito nga nga nanaman sa international competition . Why not magatanim ng puno o Kaya mag Linis ng esteros mas masasayahan pa si Madam Lopez. Useless naman itong pageant na ito .

    • andrew ? the police guy? your memory must be too short. Filipinos and other Asians are not the epitome of what is good looking and sexy in the international scene. But we certainly have produced winners. So do not be too negative 🙂
