Ready for a fresh new learning approach about one of our favorite subject matters? Well then, join the beeline to Room 207 of Palma Hall inside University of the Philippines-Diliman this coming Thursday, March 31 from 1-4pm. Here’s the pitch:
Faces and Spaces: An Alternative Classroom Learning Experience (ACLE) about The Geography of Beauty Pageants, a geographic forum organized by the Geographic Society of the University of the Philippines (GSUP). The event will be on March 31, 2015 (Thursday) from 1-4 pm at Palma Hall (PH) Room 207, University of the Philippines Diliman, Quezon City. Open to the public.
My friend and long-time pageant “fellow”, Professor Wendell Capili Ph.D. of the UP Department of English and Comparative Literature, will lead the learning forum discussions along with Jonas Gaffud of Aces & Queens, designer Bessie Besana also of Aces & Queens and Miss Global Philippines 2015 Candice Ramos.
This should be very interesting. Thanks to the Geographic Society of the University of the Philippines (GSUP) for organizing.
Attend if you’re available. It’s open to the public. 🙂
Those who are a little miffed that MU 2015-Pia Wurtzbach seems to be limited in her global travels representing the MU brand and her charitable platform, let’s be reminded of Bea Santiago’s reign as Miss International 2013.
Her “legimate” gripe of being bored to tears for the lack of activity -as MI- has forever villianized her as an arrogant, self centered, self righteous, over-rated beauty queen known for her laughable and utterly ridiculous quote of “raising the bar.”
Hopefully Bea has a clearer understanding between the difference between fact and fiction. Pia can (but doesn’t) talj about raising bars, I’m afraid Bea can’t. Sorry…
Glad Bea is busy these days… doing whatever.. 😉
*talk
LOL you’re funny Saluda C. :-p That was hilarious!!!
I do seriously hope, nonetheless, that whatever Bea had previously said wouldn’t jinx our chances in future editions of MIs… otherwise, we might end up waiting for another couple of decades before seeing a pinay rep getting crowned again. Ugh!! Bwisit haha
Thank you for featuring our event! Updated poster can be found through this link:

See you on the 31st!
Oh this is an interesting ACLE though I’m not surprised by this! Prof Capili is definitely into this. I was in one of his GE classes. He had a stories of famous people who were his students and some bits about pageantry – MU, in particular. If I remember correctly, I think it was about Licaros or Manalo being excluded in the top15 MU. 🙂
