  1. While it is true that Cory Aquino dubbed as the icon of Philippine democracy is contributory to restore it, it is likewise true that the same could not have taken place without the massive contribution of the entire Filipino people who took to the streets and risk their lives forcing the dictator out of their country. “People power” is the “last straw that broke the camel’s back,” so to speak. In other words, nobody can claim credit of such democracy all by himself/herself. Every Filipino is either actively or passively contributory or participatory thereon. Filipinos does not owe such democracy to any particular individual considering it is a collective burning desire, courage, painstaking effort, patience, and perseverance to achieve the same. Filipinos owes this freedom from themselves. Without “people power,” there can be no democracy that they enjoy today; considering further that “Democracy is of the people, by the people and for the people.” This is the quintessential meaning of Democracy and every form of freedom appurtenant thereto. Besides, the true origin and epitome of democracy is our creator Himself, God our Father, when He gave “freewill” to every human being upon creation.

The Gettysburg Address is a speech by U.S. President Abraham Lincoln, one of the best-known in American history. Lincoln reiterated the principles of human equality espoused by the Declaration of Independence with “a new birth of freedom”, that would bring true equality to all of its citizens and that “government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.”

  2. Condolence to their families, kapwa filipino tayo, iisang bansa, pero baket sila nag aaway,
They are true heroes and guardian angels!

  3. The situation of the world today calls for much vigilance; Philippines can’t be another Syria, Ukraine or Iraq. We need to stand up as a nation: let this injustice never happen again.

  4. Our house is near Camp Bagong Diwa, when I’m on my way home, super traffic pero I was moved nung nakita ko yung family nila (habang stuck sa traffic) dala dala na yung mga bangkay ng mga heroes ng bayan. Tragic though but their heroic act will forever remain sa memory ng mga Pilipino. Hats off warriors.
