  1. This Miss Republic of the Philippines is okay but my reservation is: with so many beauty pageants in the country at national and local levels, the target audience might be confused.

It is quiet challenging for the organizers on how to maintain its popularity since the winner won’t represent abroad or in an international pageant. For so long, the parameter for success among the beauty pageant fanatics is how our candidate placed internationally.

  2. Filipina Honey Castro made it to the top 5 of Miss America. I think she represented Washington State. Not sure, though.

  3. Speaking of Janicel, sana matrain sya ng husto sa communication. That girl is gorgeous and super sexy. Her downfall is her communication skills. Sana magawan ng paraan ng KF, she’s definitely the girl to beat sa bb next year.

  4. Have you heard about Baron Travel Girl? It was an elitist Miss America-like pageant in the seventies that produced the likes of Maria Rosario Santos and Constancia Angeline Reyes Nubla. The former who is more popular as Charo Santos-Concio was the titleholder in 1976 whilst the latter, better known as Coney Reyes, was a finalist in 1974. When they competed, both were fresh college degree holders with latin honours from San Beda and Maryknoll, respectively. Maria Josefina Albert, a degree holder from Assumption College and Joey Albert to her fans, had also joined the pageant according to Norman Tinio. Also, Simonette de los Reyes, Binibining Pilipinas Universe 1970 became the first-ever Baron Travel Girl in 1972, accordfing to my further research.

Having shared above info, it can be said that they are actually reviving two defunct pageants into one. I have a feeling that the likes of Shamcey Supsup, Maria Venus Raj and Yvethe Marie Santiago would be joining this first if this is in existence.

I’ll be an instant fan just in case Miss Republic of the Philippines becomes a reality.

      • Thanks, Minorka. I would appreciate it so much if you could give me the link to that regard. I only used simple logic based on wiki info. 🙂

    • Salud “Bumbum” Asturias of Tacloban was also a Baron Travel Girl and a most sought-after commercial model during her time, and even after.

      • Thanks, Trevor, for your kind update. Yes, I’ve read about her on the Mabuhay Pageants link as the last Baron Travel Girl but unfortunately her name didn’t ring a bell. Glad to know that she also made a name during her prime. Thanks again. 🙂

    • It’s no surprise she could sing since she is Filipina. What I find uncanny is that she looks like the younger sister of BBP-MTQI, Katrina Dimaranan and Calcarrie’s Jen Flores. 🙂

  5. Great Idea!.. perfect for the likes of Janicel Lubina.. I hope the package includes personality developement classes and when they graduate.. they could Join BBP and MWP. 😀
