  1. I second Code X’s comment 100%.

MGI 2014 should be dethroned. I want to think that Mr. Nawat is not part of this lie and that he truly thinks this girl is Cuban. Reality is- she is Not Cuban nor does she have a Cuban parent. She is 100% puerto rican.
She does not deserve this crown, nor any of the prices she must be enjoying. She should learn to achieve her goals with honesty. What kind of example is this?

Sorry Mr. Nawat but your pageant has no credibility. You should do something about this soon if you want your pageant to actually have a future.

  2. If walang naganap na national pageant, ano ibigsabihin nun? Baka sya yung nakabili ng franchise ng MGI sa Cuba, then she chose herself to represent Cuba in this years MGI. I think she’s so desperate to represent a country in an International pageant because she can’t win any title in US and Puerto Rico. Dapat malaman natin SINO BA ANG NATIONAL DIRECTOR NG MGI SA CUBA?

  3. multiple citizenship? hanggang 2 na max citizenship ang alam ko d2 sa pinas. so ano cya blood? cuban, american or puerto rican?

  4. I call this contemptous title. Cuba is a closed-door communist country just like Noth Korea and it abhors anything from the West , one of them beauty pageants. You can’t just travel to Cuba. Citizens of Cuba need to ask permission from their government to travel. How on earth this Darryanne Garcia represented Cuba and MGI stupidly embraced and made her in fact the winner blows the mind. It’s beyond me. I’m out. Sick pageant.

    • Me thinks that someone thought that MGI is just like those gay national pageants doin’ a Miss Universe and contestants can pick any title they want on a first come-first entitlement basis. Whattaya think, Ryan?!? XD

      • Dex bebe. I only watched the opening number to see the girls, To my disappointment, only a handful of them I could in my standard consider real beauty queens. The rest are reyna ng karnabal. Lol!! I did not feel the exhilarating vibe of Ms U or Ms World where all the girls are simply gorgeous that it is hard to choose and predict. Nothing of that sort in MGI. When the host said the pagant is ‘anti-war’ that’s about it! Shut it. 🙂

      • Ganiyan yata talaga ang feeling ng mga MUadiks. Lagi ko na lang nababasa na walang K ang mga participants kapag hindi kasama sa BIG FOUR. Masyadong matataas ang standards ninyo. 😛

  5. Clearly valid points to contest the integrity of this recently promoted MGI. Obviously, Mr Nawatt does not have a committee that checks on the backgrounds of the contestants and in so doing, he has put himself, his organization and even Global Beauties to shame. Now they can be on the same level as Miss Asia Pacific World. Organizations/institutions that should not be trusted nor respected.

If I were Nawatt, I will immediately dethrone his winner and make an apology to all the pageant fans worldwide. He has to admit that his organization had made a terrible mistake and that he should be given the chance to straighten things out. And that he has to also admit that he is still in the learning process and that his org does not deserve the grand slam status for now. Besides, he should change his org’s mission and advocacy to something that is more realistic. We all know that Janelee Chaparro did not stop any war!

Let’s see if Nawatt takes the most respectful thing to do…

[My apologies to all readers who find my statement so challenging. Someone has to bring the message to Nawatt and I guess he has some friends who would be able to relay this to him.]

  6. I am confused. If she has joined beauty contests in the USA and Puerto Rico, how could she represent Cuba? Does Cuba have a national contest that determines its official representative to an international contest? If none, what or who gave her the right to represent Cuba? I suspect she might be one of those Cuban exiles in the USA or Cuban immigrants in the USA. Puerto Rico is a US territory, not an independent country, so I presume she can also participate in its contests, as she had, as an American citizen. This brings us to the issue of her citizenship– American or Cuban? Or, maybe according to the rules of MGI, this issue of citizenship, country of residence, and country being represented, are not important? Or previous participation in another country’s national contest not an issue to be scrutinised? MGI trumpets stop-the-war and betterment-for-humanity advocacy. In the choice of its official spokesperson, isn’t it of utmost importance that the vital ingredient to her credibility, country being represented, is clear and officially endorsed by her country? Stopping wars and working for humanity’s betterment are herculean tasks that need first and foremost a very credible spokesperson whose feet are firmly grounded on a country she represents. I hope NGI clarifies this because even their credibility is at stake.
