The Thai pageant fans are celebrating. They got their long-standing wish.

A new Miss Universe Thailand has been named.

And as expected, she is the 1st Runner-up Pimbongkod ‘Ellie’ Chankaew who will now assume the responsibility of representing the Land of Smiles in Miss Universe 2014.

The tall (1.79m) US-bred Ellie has been announced as the replacement of Weluree Ditsayabut who abdicated her title yesterday.

Some of our concerned Thai readers were actually surprised that there was so much sympathy for Weluree. They claim to know the actual reasons behind the opposition. And the details are just long and dizzying (embarrassing, if you will) that I opt not to share too much info anymore.

Anyways, that matter is settled. For now.

  1. Norman, for some unknown reason she reminds me Bianca Guidotti. Both of them could easily pass off as cousins.

    Anyway, I hope she gets MJ as her roommate at Miss UNIVERSE.

    • What is going on there in Thailand.I am talking about those judges for miss universe Thailand.They just don’t know how to pick the beauty queen.They seem to go for light skin and chinese look and its not gonna work at the miss univers pageant.I want to see a native thai,brown skin,nice body.The body is very important in the miss universe pageant.If u look at Weluree’s body(hehehehee) its just not what miss universe will look like.To those “thai judges” you all need to study what the universal beauty queen looks like.

  3. Hindi sya makakauwi ng Thailand after coronation of Miss U 2014 kasi babalatan sya ng buhay ng mga Thailander dahil di man lang sya nakapasok ng semifinalist…mag-stay sya sa USA ng mahabang panahon bago sya babalik ng thailand.

      • Kopunkrap Hunk! It seems like she’s not there yet. I saw Porntip’s clip when she was crowned Ms Universe in Taiwan. Porntip was better in many ways. But who knows, Allison has all the winning potentials that simply need polishing. Having heard her talk, i would say MJ would come across as more sincere & more endearing. Just my impression & opinion. 🙂

  6. Tito Norms, Si Punika Kunsuntornrat daw ang magiging Miss International ng Thailand. Is this true? Paano na ang title niya na Miss Earth – Fire?

      But if she is indeed the one, then she will need to resign from ME first.

    I mean, seriously, they crown the plainest girl out of the bunch with the best girl as her first-runner up. I knew something was fishy. Gusto nila gumawa ng ingay.

  10. It is hard for me to say who has the edge now. I’m not a big fan of MJ before but she is growing on me. Ms. Thailand has the height but MJ has the body. She is very pretty but MJ’s face can appeal to different race. We will see come December.

    • Mj looks just like a Ms Thailand Universe candidate. But her body, still unparalleled..

  11. Top 15 material. Should we be worried now that she is Thai’s rep to Miss Universe, Sir Norman? May Laban Ba Siya Kay MJ. If u ask me, she’s beginning to be a threat for me.

    • di naman pala ganun kaganda, tingnan nyo yung pinost ni hunk na video, ang
      haba ng ilong at much, di din maganda ngipin, parang mga dating mga
      pinadala natin sa miss universes na di man lang nagplace. gusto lang nila gumawa
      ng ingay na gaya ng ingay na ginawa ni venus para mapansin.

  16. IT’S NOT THE FAULT OF WELUREE, THE CROWN WAS GIVEN TO HER, AND SO SHE HAS TO ACCEPT IT. IF I WERE WELUREE, I WILL NEVER RESIGN, I FOUGHT THE HARDEST THAT NIGHT, AND JUST LIKE THE OTHER GIRLS WORKED HARD TO FULFILL THEIR DREAM. SHE SHOULD HAVE TAKEN IT AS A CHALLENGE. NOW SHE JUST GAVE CHANCE TO ALL HER DETRACTORS TO CELEBRATE AND WITH HER RESIGNATION, AS IF SHE WAS ADMITTING THAT INDEED SHE HAS DONE SOMETHING FISHY JUST TO WIN MISS THAILAND. POOR GIRL….. WHY MUST YOU BE PLACED IN THIS DISHEARTENING SITUATION WHEN ALL YOU WANT IS TO ACHIEVE YOUR DREAM.
