In a model search like Bodyshots Philippines 2014, there is always a side premium given to the freshest and most promising faces. Since the eventual winners will possibly become the next big thing on the local ramp – courtesy of the Fashion Designers Association of the Philippines (FDAP) – it is inevitable for the judges and organizers to give way to young upstarts in the modeling scene. But this doesn’t mean that the ones who have already dipped their feet in the water have no chance but to just fill numbers. They simply have to prove more than the next amateur wannabe.

In this year’s roster, there’s more than a handful of possibilities among the forty (40) finalists who are unknown today, but highly-marketable aspirants for the future. Take for example the young ladies in contention. The likes of Hilda Ronato, Aira Inoue, Angelica Bernardo, Jinlyn Talucod and Analita Vizcarra are samples of potentially strong entries who could nail the demands of a fashion model’s life given the right training and exposure. They may still be raw and unpolished, but can be groomed for the more exacting demands of the craft.

Looking at the guys, there are no slim pickings as well. Some of them may still lack the perfect stance and posture to project a more arresting image of their confidence and verve. But actual training and experience will prove to be good teachers in gaining the pluses needed to make them more ramp-savvy. The group of five which includes Patrick Magtanong, Archie Severino, Christopher Matecki, Arcel Yambing and Christian Arbasto should find themselves ahead in the field if they continue to show the promise, aside from having the right attitude for the profession.
