One of my faves is an Elie Saab creation worn by Halle Berry during the 2002 Oscars
This year’s Academy Awards will be handed out at the Dolby Theater (
formerly known as Kodak Theater) in L.A. later (tomorrow morning, Manila time) in the day. And since the event is also much-awaited with the red-carpet coverage showing all the celebrities in their breathtaking and/or show-stopping designer gowns, I’d like to know your opinion on whether the cuts of the creations above will go well with our Bb. Pilipinas Official Candidates. Most of them are way too haute couture for pageant purposes, but there are some that – with a few tweaks here and there – could work for our local pageant.
Elie Saab’s creation (left photo) worn by Halle Berry during the 2002 Oscars when she won Best Actress is one of the few that really stood out in my eyes. The design may have been outdated by now, but it still reeks of glam with a generous touch of sexiness without going overboard. While I don’t see the style being worn by any of our candidates unless the floor-sweeping gets edited, it does have its potential for good updating.

For me, pang MISS WORLD ang mga Haute Couture gowns. MISS UNIVERSE naman is yung mga flowy, sexy gowns. I can still remember Jacqueline Aguilera’s gown during Miss World 1995. ❤ Classy!
Sometimes it’s the other way around With Holywood folks getting inspiration from the beauty pageants.
I do remember seeing Jennifer Lawrence in gowns that had a huge semblance to the one worn by Janine at MU 2012
The Oscar gown surely looked elegant as worn by the Best Actresses but I am not quite sure if they would really look as nice and elegant when worn by much younger beauty title aspirants. Just saying…

The green dress you are referring to is by Versace. J Lo wore that during the Grammys not the Oscars

I love Jennifer Lawrence’s Dior gown and Sandra Bullock’s Marchesa gown – both are very elegant and timeless and can be worn in a red carpet or beauty pageant.
I love Halle’s dress! soOoOo Regal! 🙂
