From 71 Official Candidates, one beautiful young woman will be crowned tonight as the very first Miss Grand International at the Impact Arena in Bangkok.
Here now are my Twelve (12) Hot Picks to zoom to the top. The dozen beauties are ranked accordingly with the upper tier expected to figure out in the Top 5.
My Final Five will definitely include Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Philippines and Venezuela. Now the fifth spot could be given either to host delegate Thailand or one European who I feel might be Sophie Hall of Wales.
I feel strongly about our bet, Ali Forbes. While she may not be the tallest in the batch, she has been constantly wowing the locals and press (based from a reliable source in Bangkok) alike with her charming presence, constantly warm smiles and killer catwalk skills. It cannot be denied that her year-long training as Bb. Pilipinas 2nd Runner-Up helped tremendously. It gave her the extra oomph and confidence to shine.
Now, the biggest obstacles in her way are the Carribbean Glamazons – Janelee Chaparro of Puerto Rico and Chantel Martinez of Dominican Republic plus Mariana Jimenez of Venezuela. If she does a David and upends this triple threat, then we might just see her getting the title, or at worst, a Top 3 placement.
Possible spoilers could be Ecuador’s Sulay Castillo (who placed fifth in Miss Supranational 2012), Cuba’s Jamilette Gaxiola (a one-time Miss Earth participant back in 2009) and Brazil’s Tamara da Costa Bicca.
Good luck to all the ladies! Best of luck to our very own Ali Forbes! 🙂
How come Brazil’s contestant is also Marcelo Ohio for this pageant?
I think, it’s a battle between Cuba and Indonesia.
But my dog fulgoso barked when he saw Cuba’s picture, so,it’s gonna be Cuba!
Paano yan, Acheng Basil.
Hilariously reacted to the post!!!
Natawa talaga ako sa emoticon mo @Dexter co……. Lol
Bwaahahaha………
Well, at least I have made you laugh like crazy. Thanks, Lavinia.

Nailabas na ba ang list ng judges for the finals?
Not yet, but it might be mostly Thais with a small sprinkling of foreign guests.
The show will be streamed live at 8pm BKK time, 9pm MNL time.
It will be streamed LIVE via youtube. You will find the link here closer to the airing time: http://www.missgrandinternational.com/index.php
Judging from the exposure at the website, she seems to be a clear favorite. Let’s all pray Ali Forbes brings home a 3rd crown.
Galingan mo Ali. Pataubin mo lahat ng kalaban mo ha. Iuwi mo ang koronang may jade.
i like and love ali forbes a package full excellence … beauty, brains and body figures. philippines!
Hi Norman, Is this a gay pageant? These transvestites are stunning! Most are very beautiful but some can not hide their manly features like Pakistan and Paraguay. I love the innocence look of Norway. She looks like 9 years old. I so love the gown of Myanmar. Gays are really talented and creative. Vietnam looks like a ladyboy. Philippines was exaggerated, oh and she twirl like there’s no tomorrow. I also like her drag name Ali Forbes, very manly like Muhammad Ali and rich lke the Forbes Family of the US, the combination of the two names is really catchy indeed.
Not at all, Anastacia. But these candidates are surely gay and happy with the way their hosts are taking care of them. 😉
Im in love with Miss Puerto Rico, She looks like a twin but younger and more beautiful sister of Catherine Zeta Jones! Also love Miss Moldova, and Venezuela. These are my top 3.
Just wondering the real number of delegates participating in this first ever Miss Grand International. Different blog gives different number. There were 75 participants during the preliminary. Has anyone withdrawn after that? I’ve read somewhere that two reps are still grieving over the death of their loved ones but I know that they are staying.
Ali Forbes is definitely a favourite in Thailand. And her presence wows the people and the press. I am sure she is a shoo-in for top placement. So here’s wishing Ali Forbes all the best of luck. May she become the first Miss Grand International!

I pegged it at 71 based on what the organizers reported, D.
Norman, will you be blogging live? The main event will be starting very soon. Hopefully Ali wows all the judges. #ForthePhilippines!
I’m actually stuck at work finishing a project proposal, so not sure yet.
I don’t mind finishing your project proposal as long as you’ll blog MGI live in about an hour and a half. 🙂
LOL! I can’t leave my team on their own. But the show will start 8pm Bangkok and 9pm Manila.
