  1. One thing we can never deny that’s very Filipino is the strong family ties. It’s very touching and moving to see Ara’s immediate family to be there in Moscow just to watch her compete. Nothing beats a family members’ support in boosting someone’s self esteem πŸ™‚

  2. What I like about Ara in these pictures is that she was able to maintain her positive disposition despite the fact that this outfit is beyond horrendous. She managed to carry it well and IMHO, she’s even prettier now compared to her arrival pics. Siguro tine train talaga ang A&Q queens under extreme and often harsh conditions (read: alam nila na outdated na ang fashion sense ni SMA and they can’t do anything about it na) Seriously, my mom has a similar dress and we bought it sa Plus Sizes section ng SM Dept Store. Iba lang iyong sleeves pero the patterns are the same.

  3. Global beauties had their hit or miss predictions. They overhyped Miss South Africa who for them consistently stayed on top from pre arrival and final phase. She failed to clinch the miss universe crown by missing even the final cut. It all boils down to the hands of jury whom they think captures the embodiment of a deserving universal winner. Ara will definitely shine and do her best to make her countrymen be proud again. If destiny dictates the ascension of the luckiest girl, then let it be. May the purest luck stay within the realm of Ariella’s touch toward the homestretch.

  4. Here’s my not-so-pleasant experience with Global Beauties…

I gave a very objectiive and polite comment to GB’s recent leaderboard which did not include Ara. I praised GB for being an entertaining and informative site but i said that as far as judging is concerned, GB (and even all of us reading pageant fans) CANNOT in any way be 100% objective because they are merely in the sidelines and are not privy to what’s actually going on with these girls, and that only the actual judges can do that. You know what they did? They DID NOT publish my comment. I kept revisiting the thread: nowhere to be found. No nothing to this day.

Indeed, they just reinforced our notion that they are not really objective!

AHA keep it up!

      • I am a tour guide/escort…pag walang tour nawawalan ako ng guidance, bwhaha…surf-surf lang pay may ini-escort.

      • Iba ang nagkaka-ugat sa akin kasi iba ang i-tini-train ko 3 hours a day, five times a week. Dami na gang ugat eh…

  6. Ara dazzles and glows in this pic ! Her aura here is the best I’ve seen so far ! Go go go Sis ! Ara is our Miss Universe 2013 whether you like it or not ! πŸ™‚

  7. yes at last kasama ko na family ko, I’m so happy! I’m sure I’ll be performing well in the prelims πŸ™‚

    • That’s right Ara! We are all behind you, supporting you, praying for you.

  8. Don’t worry people of this Blog Site, Global Beauty is really going down into oblivion. They have lost so much fans in the last year. I used to remember when it was like the place to get all your pageant news. If you look at their coverage of Ms. Universe this year it’s not even worth visiting, You probably get more coverage from Sash Factor, Missosology and our favorite and well loved Norman, The time they removed Ms. Earth from their lists of Grand-Slam Pageants was the day they start loosing a big bulk of fans. I have to give them credit though, because they did a good job with their Ms, World coverage, Global Beauties just adored Megan so much. Gosh! I can’t believed they have so much articles on her from Coronation Night, Cosmopolitan Shoot, Homecoming Parade, Meeting Pnoy at the Palace,Getting an award from both Congress and the Senate. I have a gut feeling she will win Ms. Grand Slam Award at the end of the year when all the queens from the different Grand Slam Pageant are crown. The same goes with Mutya Datul, and it’s understandable, because Ms. Supra is being hyped so much by Global beauties. Global Beauties has always been biased with Filipina Beauties. This is the first time that these two Pnay beauties are being given so much adulation by this has been Blog Site.

  9. While Betting Agencies continue to place Ms. Philippines in the top spot for Ms. Universe, Global Beauties has been doing the opposite. At first, it ranked Ariella Arida on the 17th spot, then 23rd, and now she’s nowhere to be found in top 25. Indonesia and South Africa are even ahead of her. What can you say about this, Norman?

    • Para sa akin, Filipinos should unite to ban/shun GB. Let them find out how big of a chunk of website visit revenues Filipinos contribute to their site…

      • So they have to resort to pandering? Let them have their opinion, after all it’s not final.

Personally, I don’t like going to a site knowing I’m just being catered to so the content is tainted. Just because GB did not include Ara, it doesn’t warrant them hate or ridicule. After all, it’s still an opinion! The problem with some Pinoys is that they just can’t accept exclusion or defeat. Can we just be magnanimous for once? Apparently, we always try so hard to get our point across, while we shun others that don’t agree with us. Bit hypocritical, don’ you think?

Yes they praised Megan and Mutya, but they didn’t with Ara. It seems to me that they are actually not being biased. Just think of it as Ara having a crown to win, unlike Ara having the crown to lose. Being a frontrunner is a stressful thing. Let her prove herself during prelims. GB judges them solely from their random appearances and photos. Prelims can pretty much change the tides because everyone now has an equal ground.

And people need to stop taking them as gospel truth. Remember when they had Deborah Henry as the winner of Ms. Universe 2011 but she ended up as a clapper? They are NOT judges, get over it.

  10. Put it this way the country of the Philippines is becoming a major treat to all those so called powerhouse nation. In the last four years the Philippines has made a complete turn around. Everyone is very envious of this country’s performance especially in both Ms. World and Ms Universe. The Philippines has all of a sudden became a game player. I read some where in a Latin Blog Site whenever Osmel Sousa see’s the team of Aces and Queens he get’s very nervous. Why not these guys has out performed them all of a sudden. Three top 5 finish in Ms. Universe, and Three also with Ms. World. Gwendoline Ruais almost stole the crown from them by loosing only by one point. Ivian Sarcos win is not very high or unanimous. Megan Young finally stole the thunder from them. Even princess would want to dress this crown jewel of this country. Mrs Julia Morley and even all the judges in this year’s pageant said that it is a unanimous decision win for Megan Young. Now you have a beautiful woman from the Philippines who is competing in the Ms. Universe Pageant, and a major favorite by the organizers. Even some foreigners and local alike who has seen her in major events were smitten by her aura. Only a blind person or some idiot out there that have no sense of what a true beautiful woman will not agree. These are the racist people who are blinded, because they can’t accept the fact that a woman with a different skin color can be a beautiful woman in other cultures.

  11. At this time we all need to vote to guarantee placement in the top 15 or 16, once she made it there it would be be a whole new ball game, all scores back to zero with the new set of judges, this is when Ara will give the best performance of her life. Remember how Olivia became Ms U when nobody even predicted? She performed very well that night. If you can spend time posting comments here why not vote for Ara even 10x a day will help, I’ve been doing this since it started. We all want her to be there that’s why we are here right guys? Thanks πŸ‘ΌπŸ˜πŸ˜˜

    • Prelims and Finals judges are the same. Scores are back to zero after the initial cut come finals.

  12. Hayaan na lang yang mga pageant sites at pageant experts kuno if they don’t like placing Ara on top, mabuti nga yun para hindi nila ma-jinx si Ara, para kapag nanalo ang Philippines its a very big slap to their stone-hard faces haha spell nga-nga!

  13. I once heard another candidate that the filipinos are just everywhere and their support is overwhelming. I too noticed how most polls do not include phil but betting sites has her on one of the top contenders. I have yet to wait after the prelimiaries if the standings will remain the same. I find your post intriguing especially the last part. Good luck ara!

  14. Good day, Sir Norman! I respect your good judgment in not sharing with us just yet the good vibes and those positivity that are surrounding Ara. I will wait with utmost patience your eventual sharing of whatever good news there are. At least, for me, there is something positive that I am looking forward to. I have not filled-up yet the final slot in my list of top 5. Whatever positive signs I might be seeing and hearing, I won’t hesitate to give that final slot to Ara. I just hope that you can share it the soonest…for I believe that any good news and good vibes, if they are credible and indomitable, should really be made known to generate inspiration and more positive vibes. I believe that nothing can spoil a solid truth…just as nothing can destroy a truly good man. But then again, you have your own reason…and I respect it…Meanwhile, I need enormous patience while waiting.

  15. This is what I’m talking about Ara in her arresting smile. This smile could melt anyone’s heart. I hope she does this all the time because when she smiles like this, you see exuberance and confidence. Beautiful lips and pearly whites show them off Ara.

Btw, Kuya Norms that last part of your post intrigue me to no end, but when you said it is something positive, it’s gonna be hard for me to sleep tonight or till you spilled the beans. Clue naman po 😻

Kudos by the way to your site, needless to say it is superb!!

  16. Good morning, Norman… good morning Philippines!

What a delightful Sunday. Seeing my Miss Universe shining as always really makes my day. Never for a minute second have I doubted AHA’s capacity to bring home the crown. My TRUST in her remains at a hundred percent.

Respected websites? Any website that does not put AHA in Top 5 is not at all respectable and has no right in claiming of any expertise in the field. GlobalBeauties, for instance, cannot deliver their update on time because none of their experts can really make up their mind that they ended up raffling and tossing their pingpong balls to show some changes whilst totally forgetting to include that ball marked PHILIPPINES. Need I say more?

Furthermore, now that the coronation is just 6 days away, beauty pageant sites are hoping beyond hope that placing their respective bets on top and clearly eliminating the truest frontrunner think that it can change AHA’s destiny. What a ploy!?!

To those who are losing hope on how AHA is performing in Moscow, you better take a look at these lists:

    http://www.nicerodds.co.uk/miss-universe
    http://www.valuechecker.co.uk/specials/other/miss-universe-2013-398/miss-universe-2013-12002/

These betting sites have representatives in Moscow and they don’t depend on any beauty pageant sites. Money is at stake in their business. And their ranking always are the most credible.

Yes, I am an AHA believer. I started to believe in her when I felt her sincerity and determination to bring home the crown. So far she is delivering far more than my expectation. And no one would be able to convince me otherwise as I trust AHA in a manner that I trust my keen eyes that knows a winner!

    • We need more commenters like you in every pageant site that talks about or doesn’t talk about how good our Philippine delegates are. Smart comments and reeking with positive vibes! I couldn’t agree more with everything you said. Ariella deserves our votes of confidence, as well as the actual judges’ votes that will make her the 2013 Miss Universe.

    • Wow, dexter!!! Your posts is really a breath of fresh air from all the poison and negativity being hurled against Ara. Nakakatuwa. nabubuhayan ako ng loob. Your posts are like a Berocca and whey protein booster combined. Thanks for uplifting our whiles here.

    • @ Grounder, Phil & A.G.

Fact is, AHA has all the qualities to win the crown and as Filipinos, we should extend to her our utmost support. Well, I am not blind, if she does not have the IT factor, I would not even bother commenting. One thing for sure, I will neither bash or put her dow.

      @ deejay

Indeed, this is THE SITE when you want facts and not hearsays.

      @ Norman

      πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

      • *One thing for sure, I will neither bash her nor put her down. The same goes to any of our representatives. πŸ˜‰

  18. Among our last 4 Miss Universe delegates, some people say Ariella is the most facially beautiful. Since you’ve seen them all in person Norms, can you sound off on this? πŸ™‚

    • Venus is a bubbly exotic presence. Shamcey is the pretty Filipina whose real substance emanates more from within. Janine is a mentor’s dream subject – not strikingly gorgeous but moves with uber confidence. Ariella’s face in person, as I’ve said before, is hypnotic. You can’t help but stare and be drawn to her beauty. Her body language can also be quite disarming. Pictures don’t do her justice all the time. πŸ˜‰

  19. @Sir Norms: Two Questions: (1) Did Philippine Airlines eventually shoulder Ara’s family’s travel expenses? and (2) Were you privy to the supposed “good news” that OMPB had mentioned?

    • The people in Moscow cannot share it yet, even to your blogger, just to play it safe in the meantime. I assumed that PAL helped subsidize the plane fares of Ariella’s family members, which could also help promote the launching of their Manila-Vladivostok route. But if they used another airline, then it only means that another financier jumped the gun on our flag carrier. πŸ˜‰

      • If true, I think it’s just right that PAL sponsor or at least give a very good discount to her family’s air fare… After all, this is a competition about a country’ pride & glory!

      • Ara mentioned in one of her interviews that her parents will use their retirement fund to finance their Moscow trip.

  20. I’ve stopped looking at other pageant sites and all I’m waiting for are the prelims. The prelims will clearly show us if Ara has got what it takes to make it. I’m confident of her walk; the Tony Ward show proved that. Judging by the photos on this post, she’s in a great place- she has never looked more relaxed and at ease. If she brings this aura + an amazing walk, that’s nearly halfway there. And we’ve seen her body right? Clearly up there in the top 10 if not the top 5 best bods. And of course the damned gown- it’s always the damned gown isn’t it? That would be the clincher

  21. Hi, Norman. I’ve been surfing various pageant websites, and Ara doesn’t seem to be placing strongly on leaderboards of ( in my opinion ) well-respected sites. But, still…she seems to be a strong contender according to other sources online. There’s no in-between really. There’s a rigid dichotomy between outlets placing her as a top contender or a no contender. I wonder if these are drawn upon lines that are more cultural than not. I mentioned this earlier in another posting, but could you tell me why the disparity is so great? In the recent past, your top notchers were consistent with theirs for the most part–and particularly as it concerned our beauty queen resp from the Philippines.

    • I can only second-guess, Mrs. AJ. Do consider that some backers of the MU-participating countries could be looking at ‘preventing’ another top placement for the Philippines by way of either placing her in the middle/low tier in the leaderboards or not giving her due credit or highlighting the small issues/intrigues associated with her arrival in Moscow and a lot of other things which can contribute to less excitement/anticipation about her performance. Mental conditioning in a way. It’s so much different when one is actually there in Moscow, lurking and observing every move of the ladies compared to just waiting for things to happen online. Just maintain the positive vibes. That much I can advise. πŸ˜‰

      • I agree with this Norman- the Philippines’ victory at Miss World has placed every other competing nation on the offensive. It’s logical to assume that they would indeed try to block a significant Philippine placement by putting the spotlight on other countries. While I truly believe that one is free to support any candidate, it still annoys me that some Filipinos have taken the path of supporting other candidates. And even worse- bashing their very own.

      • Well said norms, ay salamat maganda at maaliwalas ngayon dito!

    • I noticed that as well – Ara is either on top or nowhere to be found. I think once the prelims are done, there may be more consistency between all the pageant sites. However, you must take into account all the armchair judges, all the pageant/beauty “experts”, and the “gods/goddesses” of beauty and factor in their egos and any hidden “hate factors” when they put forth their respective lists. These are just opinions and nothing more. Unless the Donald or Ms. Paula comes out with their own prediction list, I really wouldn’t give much credence to all lists out there. We just have to wait and see and hope for the best and go with our own gut feelings. In the interim, we can send positive vibes to Ara, see and feel her doing the best and blowing everyone off the stage and wowing the judges. FOR THE PHILIPPINES!!!

    • Indeed, that’s also what i observed. Ariella’s impact is so polarizing. You either find people who really like her and then those who extremely do not. However, I realized too that most of those commenting, even those from the so-called big pageant-expert sites that churn these leaderboards, are still and merely outsiders looking in (just like us). They don’t really see the inside stories in the actual pageant goings-on and therefore, are not in the best objective position to judge and rate these girls. In other words, they are not MUO and definitely, not the actual judges.

Although our observation is telling, I’m keeping my fingers crossed. I have so much faith in our representative knowing she’s very smart (a UP honor grad in–of all courses–BS chemistry!), very determined and very brave. That’s on top of being very beautiful of course! She definitely will be triumphant because she’s such a good girl.

By the way, these latest pics show how worthy she’s become of that Crown. These are her best shots yet, don’t you think?

    • Well respected site?Tulad ng Global Beauties?Yung parang bastos yung admin kapag sumagot?

      • Chief Justice, I have a similar experience recently. I gave a very objectiive and polite comment to GB’s recent leaderboard which did not include Ara. I praised GB for being an entertaining and informative site but i said that as far as judging is concerned, GB (and all of us reading pageant fans) CANNOT in any way be 100% objective because they are merely in the sidelines and are not privy to what’s actually going on with these girls, and that only the actual judges can do that. You know what they did? They DID NOT publish my comment. I kept revisiting the thread: nowhere to be found.

Indeed, they just reinforced our notion that they are not really objective!

    • Simple. The Philippines to date has already bagged two BIG crowns this year and adding another BIG crown only means that a Guinness World Record for the country. Do you honestly think that current beauty powerhouses would want that? AHA!!!

Any beauty pageant with at least 60 participants from different nations is considered BIG. The grand slam thingy is just coined by those who are trying to make a name in this field. They have forgotten the true meaning of grand slam. And it applies well to Tennis Championships!

      My hard-earned two cents.
