  1. I read in sashfactor that Janicel’s camp was somehow involved in the demolition job against Megan. Kung totoo itong balita Cory Q now considers them persona non grata.

  2. Norman, I was just reading your old posts, as far back as December 2011, about Megan Young. Indeed, a sincere apology is in order (which you did already). But with all the support you have been giving Megan Young since the day she joined MWP, I guess bawing-bawi ka na kay Megan. 🙂 Gusto ko lang malaman kung ano masasabi ngayon ng mga nang-bash sa kanya noon.

And truly, it was never her destiny to become a “Binibini”… pang MISS WORLD ang beauty ni Ateng Megan 🙂

Congrats uli, Megan Young! Salamat din, Norman, sa walang sawa mong pagsuporta. More power sa iyong pagba-blog. 🙂

  3. A little comic relief to cap this glorious weekend. It seems some Filipinos are confused as to which “Megan Young” on twitter to follow:

    • another comic relief i read on other blog regarding the announcer called Ghana 3x.

      Announcer – Ghana!
      Announcer – Ghana!
      Announcer- Ghana!
Announcer – Bish get down there or I’m Ghana slap you silly.. 🙂

      • bud? who wants to know and why and why? you may answer the question in 30seconds and it starts…… now 🙂

      • A blogger treasures the core value of transparency to be able to help others do the same without hiding behind the mask of a pseudonym. But if the poster prefers to do it that way, who am I to judge? As long as we help others see the good in others, then we can unite society as one. And I promise to be the best blogger ever! 🙂

      • LOL !!! love it Norman Young!
And the Mr World 2013 is ……………………… Philippines! Norman Young!

  4. I wasn’t able to watch the live telecast (well it wasn’t covered by any network here in Italy) for I was on 16 hours duty but just the same, I was updated on fb, tweeter & of course through your blog, Norman (thanks by the way). I was overjoyed that I treated my collegues for dinner (told them it’s my bday treat since my bday wish just came true) & I was extra happy that all our patients noticed. If Cindy wins, I’ll be watching Miss U in Moscow. And I promise to provide you updates, Norman. Mabuhay ang gandang Pinay! Most specially, congratulations to the most beautiful, most qualified, almost perfect Filipina beauty queen for 2013! We love you Meggie!

  5. It didn’t flow out so fluidly… But her speech, VERBATIM, made absolute sense! Good job Megan!

    “Selamat malam Indonesia!

A Miss World for me treasures the core values of humanity and that guides her into understanding people. Why they act the way that they do? How they live in their lives? And I will use this core values and my understanding, not only in helping others but to show other people how they can understand others to help others, so that as one together, we shall help society. Thank you.”

    Well said Megan! Bravo!

    • That is so smart of Megan!

That is exactly what we need…
We should all be guided by the core values of humanity so we could understand others
and create tolerance for each other…

    • Well said indeed! I think she learned this valuable lesson from her mom – who stole some moment with her wise yet gentle words for Megan: “Be kind. Because with kindness you can never go wrong.”

Thanks Megan. Even more thanks to you Norman for going the extra mile of keeping us all hooked (in a good way) and in tuned to the best moment in Philippine and global pageant history. Saludo kami sa inyo! Mabuhay ang Pilipinas!

  6. Bud, some of my friends didn’t quite get Megan’s answer:

“I treasure a core value of humanity and that guides people why they act the way they do. I will use this to show other people how they can understand each other…as one, we can help society”

They said her answer sounds intellectual but leaves so much to be desired. And as I read through it I asked myself:
    1. Megan said “a” core value. What is that specific core value?
    2. Then she said, “That” guides people why they act the way they do. What is “that” that guides people?

And I found Human core values as follows:
    1. RIGHT ACTION = honesty = to do what is right with effectiveness and efficiency.
    2. INNER PEACE = balance = to stay free from the influence of emotions.
    3. TRUTH = sincerity = to say what is true and should be said.
    4. LOVE = kindness = to have an open heart, to give oneself without barriers.
    5. NONVIOLENCE = respect = to be in tune with all, disturbing the peace of no being.

And there is no way Megan could have expounded her answer this way in 30seconds. Instead, I believe she let my friends and I look deep in our hearts. Exactly when you uttered your absolute apology.

Megan, Congratulations. Fly, soar high and be the voice of the core value of humanity.

    Bud? U DA MAN bowman.

    • @chrome,

Please don’t overcomplicate things, Megan won not just because of her answer but because she’s the perfect delegate that can represent the MWO.

And you are asking what a CORE is, well it’s the nickname of Madame Cory Quirino, Madame Core.
      Got it!

      • Not overcomplicating anything Basil. Just trying to understand where my friends are coming from. 🙂

      • basil, to analyze doesn’t mean to “overcomplicate” noh. Megan’s answer had depth and meaning so it’s worth it to analyze. Kasi ikaw shallow ka at walang pinag aralan, hindi mo kayang mag analyze because for people like you, it’s too complicated to analyze anything. Kaya tumahimik ka na lang kasi nagmumukha kang boba. Sometimes the truth hurts noh, pero someone has to tell you dear, kasi magkakalat ka naman ng husto. Nakakahiya. 🙂

    • Here’s the full transcript of Megan’s answer

Miss World for me treasures the core value of humanity and that guides her into understanding people, why they act the way that they do, how they’re living their lives and I will use these core values in my understanding not only in helping others but to show other people how they can understand others, to help others so that as one, together, we shall help society,”

      Megan Young
      (Philippines)
      Miss World 2013

    • Dear Chrome, for one, you’re overanalyzing a non-verbatim.

It actually makes very clear sense, verbatim. Maybe, it’s just that her pauses made it sound less fluid. But here it is VERBATIM.

Bravo!

      • Hi Karen, perhaps you’re right. Just trying to understand where my friends are coming from. 😉

      • karen, so if you take Megan’s answer verbatim, what do you think she meant by “core values of humanity”? The phrase can be interpreted many ways. That is what chrome was trying to analyze and there’s nothing wrong with that dear!

  7. I love Myleene Klass in this final scene.. hehehe

She was actually very poised for a Filipina..
If I was in her position, not only will I be too excited to interview her but
I would’ve been been so overwhelmed with joy that..
I would have jumped and hugged Megan on international television! hahaha

    • I was talking about this video pala…

Inedit na pala yang High definition version..

      • Weird, I can’t post the version where she was interviewed by Myleene Klass before she did her final walk.

    • Have you seen the last part where she spoke Tagalog saying salamat po or something like that? It’s so nakakatuwa for someone who doesn’t look Pinay at all to speak Tagalog only to hear from her that she’s half Filipina pala 🙂

  8. I think God has given us such a blessing in the persona of Megan Young. As for me, I couldnt ask for more. Whether Ara Arida wins or not, people will still feel contented because in all honesty, Megan winning that crown, was what we deeply prayed for.

    • Let me add something to that, Basil. Apologizing is something that can be hard to swallow when one’s pride is high and mighty. Who are we not to apologize if we have to? So for those who may have, in the recent past, blurted out unnecessary words or phrases of rudeness or exceedingly sharp retorts at others, always reconsider your thoughts before hitting that reply button. Apologizing can be difficult, especially to those who feel that they are above such humble act. 😉

      • @Sir Norman

Yeah, I agree.. I am guilty of that sometimes..
I always feel like standing up against an oppressor that I forget to think 1st before I act.

  9. I didn’t join your contest, because I was feeling superstitious and didn’t want to jinx Megan by proclaiming her the winner. I wouldn’t have won anyway, because my choice would have been 1: Philippines, 2: Brazil, 3: Ghana.

    Congrats, again Megan!

For future posts, Sir Norms, can you feature the different grandslam pageant crowns, their evolution through the years, and their symbolism? I know: tall order! But I know your take on this is going to be a great and engaging read! 🙂

  10. and now norman, all of us who rooted for megan, we can sleep in peace for the days to come, until a new filipina enters the arena again…this time cindy miranda for the win…thank you norman for all the updates you did during megan’s quest for the blue crown…..
