Please indulge me if I can’t stop featuring Mutya Datul. This young lady simply touches me in the right places (and it’s not what some of you might think). 😉
But when was the last time you witnessed a Bb. Pilipinas winner cried unabashedly on national TV? And it wasn’t just an Eye-Mo filled or crying-but-non-lachrymal-gland-inducing moment. Those are real tears of joy (photo above) flowing down her cheeks. It only means that she was supra-grateful for having achieved something so great and meaningful. It also shows her heartfelt sincerity.
‘Nuff said. I love this girl! 🙂

Parul Shah and Hannah Ruth Sison are two of the major casualties in Bb. Pilipinas 2013. While the former made it to the Top 15 Finalists, the latter fell by the wayside and was left cheering for her advancing co-candidates. Just when it looks like one of them would land a spot in the honor roll, her fans, friends and family members were silenced after the winners were announced with no Binibini 33 called to centerstage.
Where do they go from here? Back to normal non-pageant lives or to the drawing board planning another move to join? If you ask me, Parul should definitely consider a second attempt at Bb. Pilipinas next year. But if eagerness and impatience take over, then she might want to make the beeline for Miss World Philippines 2013. I still have faith in her winning potentials.
On the other hand, Hannah strikes me as someone who gave Bb. Pilipinas her best shot and would not settle for a beauty contest ranked 2nd or 3rd to the same. I could be wrong. So if she disproves my assessment, then count me in for moral support. Some people feel that she tends to be too smart for her own good. Nonetheless, her learning experience from the same will serve to streamline her next participation if ever.
So have we really seen the last of Parul and Hannah? Mentor Rodgil Flores can answer that more confidently.
Not yet, I wish. Not just yet. 😉
Janicel Lubina (reigning Miss Scuba Philippines) is now Miss Bikini Philippines 2013.

Something must really be about water or water-related places/activities that brings good luck to Janicel Lubina. Last year, she was crowned Miss Scuba Philippines. This year, she continues the conquest by succeeding Abbygale Monderin as the new Miss Bikini Philippines. As a result, she will represent the country once more in either Miss Bikini International (in China) or Miss Bikini World (in Europe). And if all goes well, she might even do better than duplicate her runner-up placement in Miss Scuba International 2012. So I say, send her to Europe where her type of beauty will glow and be noticed even more.
Just a thought…would Janicel have been just as successful with the water-celebrating Miss Philippines Earth 2013? 😉
Anyways, Congratulations to all the winners! 😀
Miss Supranational Philippines 2013 Mutya Johanna Datul is like a breath of fresh air everywhere she goes.
Her smile captivates. Her life story fascinates.
It doesn’t take a lot to like Mutya Johanna Datul. And once you are smitten by her innate charm, falling in love with her natural beauty comes instantly.
Our Miss Supranational Philippines 2013 is going back to the basics in preparation for her big pageant moment come September. She admits to being totally unfamiliar with what Miss Supranational is all about, and is taking all the help she can to get into the meat of the relatively new competition. First off, she has started reading about the Central Europe-based organization, as well as trying out her first baby steps in knowing more information regarding the host city – Minsk, Belarus – which will come as a culture shock of sorts to a sweet girl from Isabela.
I’m sure Mutya is bent on proving that she has more than a pretty face to be proud of. Representing the Philippines abroad is the opportunity of a lifetime. And if the foreign delegates and Belarusian organizers will see in her what all of us find special beneath that winsome smile, then we might just end up looking at the very first Filipina to win the crown that has so far eluded an Asian participant. Timing could favor her upcoming stint. With Elaine Kay Moll and Nanthawan Wannachutha (the Thai 1st Runner-Up) making waves in Poland last year, there will be particular interest in our region’s finest.
Let’s show our love and support for Mutya by constantly showering her with words of encouragement via Twitter (@RealMutyaDatul). So that once left to her own defenses out there in Minsk, she will shine through with the brightest aura of a true-blue Miss Philippines. 😀

Angelee being awarded Gold by members of the Press.
When Carousel Productions introduced the Darling of the Press award last year, people started asking questions on whether this is just a duplication of Miss Photogenic (who is also voted upon by media reps/photographers).
The way I understand it, Darling of the Press is someone who can charm her way to the heart (and the final cut of the news coverage) of the reporters/news correspondents in an instant. It’s not enough that the candidate flashes her sweetest smile and sparkling pearly whites. She should also come off as sincere and not pretentious.
I can say the Angelee delos Reyes really knows her game plan to the letter. She struck Gold among the Press and was voted as their Darling at the end of the Press Presentation of Miss Philippines Earth 2013. Not far behind are the delegates from Muntinlupa City (Ferina de Paz) and Nagcarlan (Kimverlyn Suiza) who took Silver and Bronze, respectively.
So how far will the influence (clout if you will) of the Press take its winner during the finals? Far up in this case, if you ask me. But just as an insurance, the girl should also be the Darling of Carousel Productions because the people behind the organization can part the Pasig River without lifting a finger. 😉

In any beauty contest, the ladies (and their respective handlers) will do anything to make themselves outshine others in the competition. And this is where some acceptable or wanting level of aesthetics come into play – good or less than good, that is.
In the recent Resort Wear competition of Miss Philippines Earth 2013 at Hotel Pontefino in Batangas, the 48 Official Candidates paraded in their own interpretation of what to wear on the beach or the poolside. Many of them came out in various renditions of the standard two-piece swimwear. But for four of them, their attires raised not a few eyebrows. And for one (who appears to have been more tastefully styled by her scout), she went on to stamp her superiority by claiming Best in Resort Wear. She is Jannie Loudette Alipo-on of Cabugao, Ilocos Sur.
Miss Philippines Earth 2013 continues with the tradition started last year where a long string of medal-winning pre-pageant activities allows most everyone to take a thin slice out of the big prize pie. Although as learned from Miss Earth 2012, harvesting a lot of (Gold) medals is no guarantee of comfortably slipping into the semifinals, just shiny consolations if you will.

It may have been a belated recognition of a major sponsor award, but better late than never. Fans and supporters of Binibini 47 Aiyana “AJ” Mickiewicz were all wondering why she was not called as the pre-selected Miss JAG 2013 during the finals last April 14. It’s like the denim brand was completely forgotten that night.
But in yesterday’s Bb. Pilipinas Meet-and-Greet, AJ was formally given the said award. Many were disappointed that she did not even make the Top 15, but that’s how a beauty competition pans out when you have 50 outstanding candidates gunning for just five spots in the magic circle.
Anyways, AJ, good luck in all your future endeavors!
Do I smell the possibility of a second attempt for a national title? Paging the organizers of Miss World Philippines! 😉
