In last Saturday’s live exam of TV5’s Artista Academy, five of the remaining contenders were tasked to show their intense dancing skills. The group included fan favorite Benjo Leoncio who gave an earnest terpsichorean performance that could have merited a respectable score from the critics across the board. Sure, 3 of the 4 gave him grades in the mid-80s range. Not bad. But sticking out like a sore thumb was the 78 given to him by Principal Wilma Galvante. I’m no trained dancer or anything, but I can’t see why she would give such a low score to the guy…..unless she really wants to pull him down the rankings.
Consequently, Benjo was called to the Bottom 3 and faced the danger of being ‘kicked out’ the Monday after. Fortunately for our Cebuano charmer, he racked in a high number of text votes to help keep his dreams of winning the competition alive. His fans and supporters were relieved. In the first place, they could not fathom why he would be graded so low. If only the principal’s mark kept pace with the other panelists, he would have been safe outright.
Benjo Leoncio may not yet be ready for all the intrigues and controversies that come with the territory, but that shouldn’t be taken against him. The humble and good-natured spirit in him should lock his proper disposition in place and not be swept away by the bad vibes coming from all corners. And if you want to support his journey in Artista Academy, please follow him on Twitter @AABenjoLeoncio and text AA BENJO to 5656. 🙂
