The dust has settled a bit after Miss Angola LEILA LULIANA DA COSTA VIEIRA LOPES nailed a glorious achievement by winning the Miss Universe 2011 crown – the 60th in a long line of titleholders from the 1950s to the present. She surpassed the competition from 88 equally stunning ladies during the worldwide telecast of the biggest global pageant from Credicard Hall in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Congratulations to all the winners! But most of all, our warm felicitations to my girl Shamcey Supsup for placing 4th and to Leila Lopes, Miss Universe 2011!
Oprah Winfrey say’s via NBC News
“I have reservations with the results. If the only basis is the Q and A portion, after having been trimmed down to 5, Ms. Philippines deserved to win. What made her different from the rest is that she had no seconds to rethink of her answer as she had no interpreter to break the ice. The rest had their interpreters and having breaks on seconds to think about their answers. Hands down, Ms. Philippines answered straight to the point.”
Hey have you read what Oprah said on NBC? She said shamcey should’ve won because she’s the only one who didnt need an interpreter. She said those who have interpreters tend to have the time to think for their answers when the interpreter interrupt to translate the candidates answer. Unlike those who prefer to answer the question instantly. Make sense…hmm
Yeah. Read that comment all over Twitter & FB.
Miss universe is really plagued by conspiracies, controversies and shared a good amount of bias. Hoho i didnt know angolan’s and brazil speak portugese. I thought african and spanish? Haha stupid me. I think asians are really underrated these past few years since our Rio Mori won. Shame on you Donald Trumpppppp!!!!!
They probably felt that Riyo Mori’s win was too recent a victory to have another Asian take the crown. Of course, that’s just me thinking out loud. 🙂
shamcey still a winner for us. mabuhay ka SHAMCEY!!! I agree its a very big disappointment for shamcey to only bagged the 3rd runnerup when at least she should be head to head with Ms Angola. politics nga naman
Hey bud how come miss angola wasnt included in your top 5? Me and my college classmates had a betting game. Of course i gambled on miss phil shamcey, and as u see i lost. The rule is if shamcey didnt make it to the top or at least 1st runner up i will have to pay our bills on a karaoke bar food included. Sounds unfair huh. Oh well i lost and paid it. But dont get me wrong, i didnt regret it. Funny but i think i have a huge crush for shamcey! Haha what isthe reaction of your country about her?
Hotaru, the whole Philippines was ecstatic with Shamcey’s achievement. They would’ve wanted a 3rd Miss Universe crown for the country, but it wasn’t meant to be for now. Anyways, I didn’t include Angola in my Top 5 because I saw her as one beautiful candidate who lacks the spark and the spunk to just rely on her refreshing aura to win the crown. But then again, the wave of cheers and support from the predominantly Portuguese audience at the venue helped in somehow influencing the judges to give her the nod. And have you noticed how countries with Portuguese links performed well? Angola won. Brazil placed 3rd. Portugal is in the Top 10. It all came together in the judges’ final ranking towards the end where Leila Lopes would be a popular winner instead of a hometown decision for Brazil. Shamcey was caught in the middle of all this. Even Ukraine and China.
Donald trump really like ukraineans huh!? Heehee
I told you. If only Angola wasn’t so charming and popular, Ukraine would’ve clinched the victory.;-)
disappointed and at the same time happy -those are my emotions right now 😦 🙂
Likewise, carlo. But I’ve accepted it now. 😉
Kuya Normz, one thing that we have proven now is we’re back in the ball game of pageants, our organizers and fellow Filipino men are hyped enough now to bring back the most prestigious crown! hope next time will be a sure win already! kudos to BPCI!
Philippines = Sash Factor 2012? 🙂
Leila Lopes is completely stunning. She’s got it ALL!! So glad she won over Ukraine. Check out this 30 picture gallery of her.. with video of her win!! it’s CLEAR why she won!! http://www.lionsdenu.com/?p=71805
Shamcey gave the best answer there and she should have at least bagged 1st runner up. arggghhh to Donald Trump!
I am quite surprised with the results. But miss angola’s win is very well deserved. Congratulations also to miss philippines for making to the top 3. I still love her 🙂
I was hoping for a higher placement for Shamcey. Her answer during the Q&A was strong and heartfelt. At any rate, I’m so proud of our girl! 😉
