As usual, the year’s very last international beauty pageant will culminate tonight – the last day of the year – at the Sunway Lagoon Resort in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Miss Tourism International 2010 will be crowned by last year’s winner Sarah Elzanowski of Germany. From among the 55 candidates, one beauty will win it all. What’s interesting is that the four runners-up are also given less major titles that give an extra dose of significance to their respective placements – Miss Tourism Queen of the Year for 1st Runner-Up, Miss Tourism Metropolitan International for 2nd Runner-Up, Miss Tourism Global International for 3rd Runner-Up and Miss Cosmopolitan International for 4th Runner-Up – a playful mish-mash of words for sash semantics.

And if that’s not enough, there are several subsidiary title winners – on top of the traditional Miss Friendship and Miss Photogenic – that make the whole pageant more memorable for some. Awards such as Miss Body Beautiful, Miss Eyewear Beauty, Miss Fresh Face, Miss Charm Magnifique, Miss Glamour and Miss Eco-Friendly are just some of them.

If Miss Netherlands fails to win, I would be happy seeing any one among the rest of my Top 5 – which include Miss Australia Anne Visser, Miss Luxembourg Stephanie Ribeiro, Miss Venezuela Stephany Gonzales and Miss Philippines Barbie Salvador – on top.
P.S. Before 2010 takes its curtain call tonight, I just want to keep it cool and laid-back. This has been somewhat of a rollercoaster year for me. Fortunately, music, movies, beauty pageants and this blog keep me from getting obnoxiously insane. 🙂
Let the fireworks explode in the sky. Just don’t fool around with firecrackers or end up losing a finger or two! 😉
