Our girl is currently one of the hot favorites for the crown! Let’s hope she does the country proud come November 7! 😉
Big shout-out to my niece, Patricia Nicole “Ishi” Ople, who’s celebrating a milestone today – she’s turning 7 and how! She is growing up to be a truly bubbly and effervescent girl. To say that she loves being the center of attention is an understatement. She is THE center of attention everytime she makes her grand entrance in any family or school activity.
HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
I love you, Ishi! 😉
Whenever in Bangkok, I always make it a point to book a Serviced Residence unit (or a newly-opened property so I can review it right away). I simply love the spacious suites that allow movement and relaxation inside. What’s more, there’s always a kitchenette where I can cook or re-heat food in a jiffy. During my last visit to the Land of Smiles, I picked Evergreen Place Bangkok. Aside from the hard-to-resist room rate (only THB1,575.00 nett per night inclusive of breakfast), it helps that the location is just a quick stroll to the skytrain station at Ratchathewi (which also means that guests are only one stop away from the Siam Square area).
The 1-bedroom Deluxe Suite, with a comfy Queen-size bed, is attached to a walk-in closet that leads to the toilet and bath. I was pleasantly surprised at that configuration. But since the place used to be exclusive to long-term residents, I realized that it is indeed a convenient layout that insures privacy if ever you’re receiving guest/s in the small living room. I also liked the fact that each unit has a balcony that affords a nice view of Bangkok, especially at night. This is also an advantage for smokers who need not mess up the air inside the room.
Evergreen Place Bangkok is no longer new. It reminded me of condominium units built in the late 90s. But don’t let that turn you off. They have managed to preserve the whole building in a good state. It is always kept clean and well-maintained. The people at front desk are very easy to deal with and in-house security personnel are discrete. There is a good swimming pool on the 8th floor, which also houses the fitness center and coffee shop/breakfast area.
All in all, I was very happy with my stay here. I just wished I extended for a day or two because the promotion rate I got was a real steal! I heartily recommend it to all future visitors to Bangkok – be it for a brief visit or long-term stay.
Evergreen Place Bangkok is located at 318 Phayathai Road, Ratchathewi, Bangkok 10400, Thailand. Tel. No. +66 (0) 2219-1111. Email: firstname.lastname@example.org
Krista Mae Kleiner was feted by Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc. (BPCI) to a formal send-off to the Miss International 2010 Beauty Contest which will be hosted once by Chengdu, China. She is the last of the three Bb. Pilipinas winners this year to compete abroad (Czarina Gatbonton is currently in the thick of Miss World competition in Sanya). Pageant pundits are optimistic of her chances to become the country’s 5th Miss International titleholder and for good reason. Watch the video below to see why…

Best of luck, Krista! Bring home our 5th Miss International crown! 😉
Finally, the first fast-track event of Miss World 2010 pushed through. The Beach Beauty event winner will go straight to the semi-finals on October 30. This year, the winner is Yara Liz Santiago of Puerto Rico. She won over 114 other ladies. Others in the Top 5 are Miss USA Alexandria Mills (2nd), Miss Norway Mariann Birkedal (3rd), Miss China PR Xiao Tang (4th) and Miss French Polynesia Mihilani Teixeira (5th).
Congratulations, Yara! 😉
The rains are continuously dampening the Sanya stay of the 115 candidates of Miss World 2010. The Miss World Beach Beauty fast-track final has been delayed for days now because of the uncooperative weather and this puts a dent on the other scheduled activities like the Miss World Sports fast-track finals. As a result, the ladies spend most of their days rehearsing for the finals. They recently made a visit to the Nanshan Temple which is a one hour trip from their hotel. As expected, the rains spoiled the same. At any rate, they were game enough to still pose for pictures amidst the drizzle, even if some of them opted to just sit out the whole activity inside the bus. All the images below are courtesy of Bruce Casanova of OPMB Worldwide who is currently in Sanya covering the pageant…
Hopefully, the ladies’ visit to Nanshan Temple will help clear up the skies to give way to more sun so that all the important outdoor events can be conducted without significantly affecting their schedules any further. The October 30 finals is just 10 days away…
TV/Movie actress/host Carmina Villarroel has branched out into entrepreneurship. She initially got into bags and an assortment of fashion accessories, but started a line of women’s shoes that brings her creative streak to the fore. Muniz Shoes represents the stylish ladies of today with varied designs that fit your sense of style and substance. One look at the line-up and you can see the effort and craftsmanship placed into each pair.
Carrying women’s names that describe the concept for each design, here are samples of what Carmina’s Muniz Shoes has to offer:
These are just five of the many designs that you can check out. There are also flats in the selection, not just high heels. According to the website‘s page on Sketches, “…Carmina based a few of her designs from the sketches of her twins, signifying the twins participation in the design process, and, perhaps, the source of the shoes’ extraordinary whimsy…”
They limit the number of shoes for each style, hence, the Limited Edition claim for the line…and with reasonable prices at that.
I may be a guy who won’t wear Muniz Shoes (come up with a Men’s Line, Mina!), but I find them to be very attractive. I’m sure the wearer will look more beautiful and fashionable in any of the pairs.
Do check out the site or share with your Facebook or Twitter friends, especially now that Christmas is nearing the bend! 😉
Tonight starts the newest teleserye of GMA-7 that revolves around the beautiful, wonderful, intriguing and dramatic world of beauty pageants, and it is aptly titled “Beauty Queen“. It is about three ladies – Maita (Iza), Rebecca (Maggie) and Dorcas (Katrina) – who, separately, have different stories to tell about how they ended up competing for the (fictional) beauty title of Bb. Isla Pilipinas 2010 – detailing the tears, heartaches, and obstacles they had to go through in order to achieve their childhood dreams.

As of this writing, the participation of Bb. Pilipinas-Universe 2010 Venus Raj in the said drama series is still uncertain. It appears that Bb. Pilipinas Charities, Inc. (BPCI) has not given the go-signal for her entry into the world of TV acting. Nevertheless, “Beauty Queen” is sure to be a hit because this is the first time that a full-blown series will be devoted to one of the Filipinos’ biggest passions – beauty pageants.
The three ladies above will be joined by a powerhouse cast led by Miss Universe 1969 Gloria Diaz, TJ Trinidad, Marvin Agustin, Elizabeth Oropesa, Luis Alandy, Carmi Martin, Bembol Roco, Juan Rodrigo, Marky Lopez, Ricci Chan, Bubbles Paraiso, Victor Aliwalas, Tomas Gonzales and many more. Directed by Joel Lamangan, the series will air weeknights on GMA-7’s Telebabad primetime block @9:45PM right after Ilumina.
Watch out for it! 😉

The 2010 Metro Manila Film Festival will open on Christmas Day, December 25, but this early, one of the official entries is already creating waves in the industry. “ROSARIO” – a period film about a woman ahead of her time – is the first directorial job of actor Albert Martinez (credited here as Alberto P. Martinez). Just watching the trailer gave me the impression that this is going to be an excellent movie that any Pinoy can be proud of. Its lead star – Jennylyn Mercado – is sure to zoom in the star chart and will very likely win her first Best Actress award ever.
According to Wikipedia: “Based on a true story and set in one of the most colorful periods in Philippine history, ROSARIO is destined to be a modern masterpiece in Philippine filmmaking. It is a monumental yet intimate portrait of a woman’s emancipation and the sometimes painful consequencesof following one’s desires.”
“ROSARIO” is the official entry of Cinemabuhay & Studio 5 in the 2010 Metro Manila Film Festival. Directed by Alberto P. Martinez. Starring: Jennylyn Mercado, Sid Lucero, Yul Servo, Isabel Oli, Jerould Aceron, and Dennis Trillo. With the special participation of Philip Salvador, Eula Valdez, Rita Avila, Ricky Davao, and Dolphy.
Watch out for it! 😉
