Charlene Almarvez was your typical high school girl enjoying teen life while actively playing volleyball. The only difference is that she is way too vertically-endowed than the rest. With a height nearing six feet tall, it comes as no wonder that she was discovered by talent scouts looking for fresh faces in the Philippine modelling industry. She was eventually convinced and prepped for the Supermodel of the World-Philippines competition last year. She handily won that one and earned a ticket to represent the country in the international finals held in Brazil. She placed first runner-up and landed a guaranteed contract with Ford Models.
From there, she was ushered into the glamorous – yet fiercely competitive – world of New York Fashion. She has already glided the runway wearing the creations of Diane Von Furstenberg, Sophie Theallet, Peter Som, Nanette Lepore, Lacoste and Tracy Reese. She also did a fashion-shot editorial by Richard Burbridge for V.
Some problems came up with her US working visa so she had to return to the Philippines. Her handlers did not give up. This time around, she is getting ready to conquer Europe.
Here are some of Charlene’s runway photographs:
Here’s a toast to Charlene! Good luck as you invade the European fashion capitals soon! 😉
