The Miss Universe Organization (MUO) has a big headache. Just when they thought that Bolivia will be finalized as the venue of Miss Universe 2010, the country has decided to pass off on the opportunity. Read the following report by Associated Press:

Miss Bolivia 2009 Dominique Peltier during last year's Miss Universe competition in the Bahamas.
Bolivia says ‘no’ to Miss Universe pageant
Bolivia will not host Miss Universe 2010 after all, according to the Associated Press.
The government said the pageant would be too expensive to sponsor in relationship to the money it would generate.
“Political opponents accused Morales and his party of using the pageant to court voters in conservative eastern Bolivia ahead of April local elections,” AP reported.
Last year’s pageant was hosted by the Bahamas.
Miss Universe is a joint venture between New York real estate developer Donald Trump and the NBC network.
The Miss USA and Miss Teen USA pageants are subsidiaries of Miss Universe.
A date has not been set for the Miss Universe pageant, but NBC will offer a live broadcast of the final evening of the Miss USA pageant on May 16.
NBC announced it will also broadcast Miss Universe finals on a date to be announced later.
The next question begs – just where will Miss Universe be held this year? I reckon that it will go by default and bring back the hosting chores to the US. 😉
