I woke up unusually early (4:00AM) for a Sunday morning, showered and got dressed. It’s November 1 – All Saints’ Day. We always go to the province (Hagonoy, Bulacan) on this date to pay our respects to departed relatives, especially my maternal grandparents whose small mausoleum was given a much-needed renovation last month to give the place a cleaner and cozier look, complete with fresh paint. The housekeepers in our ancestral home insisted that we arrive around 7:00AM since they prepared a hearty breakfast of garlic rice, deep-fried dried fish, corned beef, eggs and suman. That doesn’t normally stimulate me right away, but given the situation, I had to look forward to it with a dash of eagerness.
On the way to Bulacan, random thoughts crossed my mind…
…how happy I am with my newly-bought mini-note (a blue Acer Aspire One AOD250-1Bb which came with a lot of freebies like external DVD writer, Prepaid Broadband gadget, USB Flash Drive, Optical Mouse, etc.) and which can be very handy during road trips instead of bringing my heavier Toshiba laptop requiring some decent space to set up on my lap.
…how curious I am as to which Miss Earth 2009 candidates are already in town (what could be the running headcount?) and how they are being treated. The Press Presentation is just a few days away (November 4) so my friends who will cover the event for OPMB Worldwide Forums are all hyped up for it.
…how a little tense I got when it dawned on me that 50 days from now, it will be Christmas! I haven’t made any early Holiday Shopping yet (save for some items I bought in Hong Kong last month) and my credit card bills need to be settled soon before I can plunge into another round of gift-hunting in the malls and bazaars.
Snap back to my senses inside the car. My mom asked me to quit blogging. We’re already nearing Hagonoy. Everything’s cool. I have my blog (and regular site visitors) that keeps me inspired everyday. For now, that’s more than enough as I wrap up today’s post. Less than 5 minutes away from our destination and I’m getting hungry.
Ciao for now!
