This is interesting. In the ongoing third season of Singapore Idol, one finalist – Fathin Amira – who is of Malay descent chose to sing a Tagalog song in the Asian-themed week of the competition. The teenager admits to enjoying Tagalog music because of its engaging melodies. Aside from that, she wants to pay tribute to the countless Filipinos who are struggling for survival after being hit by two deadly typhoons the past month.
Here is the video of Fathin Amira with her rendition of Jessa Zaragoza’s signature song “Bakit Pa?” roughly translating to English as “Why Else?”

We’re not sure how far Fathin will go in Singapore Idol, but we’d like to thank her for singing a Tagalog song. She definitely deserves an ‘A’ for effort and her musical talents are not bad at all.
