The Bb. Pilipinas Grand Santacruzan 2013. It’s happening this afternoon at 4:00PM starting at the parking grounds of Smart Araneta Coliseum. Get your cameras fully-charged and ready. This is going to be a good watch.
Just to reminisce a bit, let’s watch at how the opening number of Bb. Pilipinas 2012 unfolded…

And so, troops, it has all come down to this.
Our more than 2-month long anticipation will finally be consummated tonight. And yes, it does sound like a long wait for the climax.
Lives will be changed for sure. For four of them, their statuses will change from beauty contestants to beauty queens. From relative unknowns to instant celebrities. From private citizens to public figures.
Who will these ladies be?
Find out as Bb. Pilipinas Gold culminates in the crowning of our representatives to Miss Universe 2013, Miss International 2013, Miss Tourism Queen International 2013 and Miss Supranational 2013.
The crowds will be thicker. The cheers will be louder. The attendance will be fuller. The supporters will be crazier. It’s number 50. It’s Gold. And it’s Golden all the way.
Take a deep breath. Clear your throats. Ready the waves. Bring out the noise.
The live proceedings will start at the Smart Araneta Coliseum around 7:30pm. TV telecast will be over at ABS-CBN, 9:45PM on Sunday’s Best.
If you want to see the 50 Official Candidates of Bb. Pilipinas 2013 glide the ramp garbed in the most elegant Pitoy Moreno creations and the modern denim concepts of Jag Jeans, then head over to Smart Araneta Coliseum this coming Thursday night, April 11 at 7:30pm.
The Bb. Pilipinas 2013 should be another acid test for the ladies’ ability to do the catwalk. Just like last year’s similar event organized for Philippine Airlines, this will allow them to display their sense of style – both in casual and formal wear. And what better way for all of us to witness the same than to have the tickets (see left image) priced so low (Patron tickets at just P100.00!).
So what are you waiting for? Buy your tickets now!
Okay, troops, time to start saving up for those precious tickets for the finals night of Bb. Pilipinas 2013.
The coronation of our new queens will take place at Smart Araneta Coliseum on April 14, a Sunday.
Nothing beats watching the live proceedings at the venue. The drama, the tension, the retakes, the outtakes, the sidelights, the loud cheers, the fun commercial gaps, the long (and nerve-wracking) deliberation of the judges during the dying minutes….oh, you will just love it!
I’ll keep you posted on ticket prices soon!
Want to see our Bb. Pilipinas 2012 winners in person? Then head over to the Araneta Center tomorrow afternoon at 4pm for the annual Grand Santacruzan where Janine Tugonon, Nicole Schmitz, Katrina Dimaranan, Elaine Kay Moll and Annalie Forbes will be traditionally dressed and paraded around the Smart Araneta Coliseum area as Reyna Elenas for everyone to see and cheer upon. I am also anticipating the participation of past beauty queens in the same.
So if you’re free, the invitation is open to the public.
After the dust settled last night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, only three ladies could call themselves brand-new Beauty Queens from a strong field of 30 contenders for Bb. Pilipinas 2012. The whole process wasn’t the easiest and I tip my hat to the ones who soared (and scored) high and are now looking forward to life-changing journeys to more success in the global pageant arena. Here’s the Official Honor Roll:

The 3-hour program – hosted by actress Iza Calzado, upcoming matinee idol Xian Lim, 2010 Miss Universe 4th Runner-Up Venus Raj and commercial model/cable presenter Georgina Wilson – saw each of the ladies going through the traditional swimsuit and evening gown competitions before the cut to the Top 12 went underway. After the dozen finalists were announced, they were subjected to the Q&A round which gave the Board of Judges a better perception of their individual dispositions and/or quick-wittedness. From here, the winners were announced with no further trimming down to a Top 5 anymore, thereby lending more suspense to the proceedings.
The winners will now start preparing for their respective dates of international representation: Miss Universe 2012 on December (exact date and venue still unannounced), Miss International 2012 (China) on November 11, Miss Tourism Queen International (China) on September 28 and for one of the runners-up, the Miss Supranational 2012 (Poland) on September 15.
Big Congratulations to all the Winners!

February 7 marks the final open screening deadline for Bb. Pilipinas 2012. This is your last chance to take a stab at the opportunity of following the footsteps of Shamcey Supsup and Venus Raj who both made the country proud by placing in Miss Universe 2011 and 2010, respectively.
The Official Candidates will be announced two days later, on February 9, with the search culminating in the Grand Coronation Night scheduled on April 15 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
So if you think you have what it takes to be the country’s next representative to the Miss Universe, Miss International and Miss Tourism Queen International, make the beeline to the screening venue at Gateway Suites in Araneta Center until late afternoon this coming Tuesday.
Who knows, your late entry might just be what BPCI is waiting for!

As my first blog feature for the month of February, I had to give some space for my favorite Anne Curtis who – as a non-singer – was able to hold a very successful concert last Saturday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. Titled “Annebisyosa – No Other Concert”, the big dome was literally filled to the rafters with the presence of thousands of fans, supporters, and celebrity friends.
Mounting a concert this big was such a huge task, let alone the fact that the star of the whole thing is a lady who is more known for her acting chops than a creditable singing ability. In fact, Anne’s only official claim to singing was a bestselling music cd released last year. But trust the personality-driven Pinoys to give their all-out adulation. Never mind the intermittent slip-ups with the choreography or the lyrics, everybody stayed through the 3-hour concert to have fun and some good laughs.
You could say that Anne deserves an ‘A’ for effort. But it doesn’t stop there. She religiously attended all the rehearsals with the band and the dancers, while heavily promoting the concert on Twitter, Facebook and TV. And boy, did she wow everyone that night. She may not have the voice of guest Sarah Geronimo, but she squeezed everything that she could to come up with numbers that dazzled and inspired the audience.
Her spots with little sister Jasmine, comedians Vice Ganda and Vhong Navarro, host/actor Luis Manzano, rock musicians Rico Blanco & Ira Cruz, “No Other Woman” co-stars Cristine Reyes & Derek Ramsay and ex-boyfriend Sam Milby were all well-applauded. But nothing beats her number on top of a slowly-descending bed from mid-air while singing the difficult and demanding “Alone”.
Anne clearly emphasized that this will be her “first and last” major concert. But looking at how tremendously successful (and profitable) the whole thing was, I doubt it if a repeat (or a fresh new concept) will be ignored by her management team (Viva). Give them ten months or one year at most and I’m sure a part two will follow. A duplicate might even be staged for the Pinoys in the US as well.
I’m not too keen about Anne shifting from acting to singing, but if she can provide solid entertainment in whatever shape, form or trick, then a follow-up production for 2013 is very very possible. After all, why tag her “concert sweetheart” when the girl is clearly not even categorized as a one-hit wonder?
