My shortlist for Mutya ng Pilipinas 2011

Maria Bergensen (Filipino Community of Norway)

Bernadette Lou Faundo (Zamboanga)

Abbygale Monderin (Caloocan)

Bea Rose Santiago (Filipino Community of Canada)

Felicia Baron (Filipino Community of Arizona)

Vickie Marie Rushton (Bacolod)

Annie Lea Fingcale (Manila)

Kristina Marie Jose (Tondo, Manila)

From among the thirty (30) Official Candidates of Mutya ng Pilipinas 2011, I took the liberty of coming up with a list of my personal choices for the three (or four) crowns at stake. There is a handful of promising ladies in this batch, maybe not to the level of Binibining Pilipinas just yet but will suffice for the competitions they will be fielded in.

Top of my head right now is to see Maria Bergensen (representative of the Filipino Community in Norway) wearing the Philippine sash in Miss Intercontinental. Meanwhile, I would select Bea Rose Santiago (Filipino Community in Canada) to be Mutya-Overseas Communities and possibly be qualified for the Top Model of the World contest. As for Miss Asia-Pacific International (if ever there will be one), Bernadette Lou Faundo (Zamboanga) could be given serious consideration. Lastly, Abbygale Monderin (Caloocan) is my pick for Mutya-Miss Tourism International.

Coronation night will be on December 2, 2011 with Puerto Princesa, Palawan as host.

What do you think, dear readers? :-)

Mutya ng Pilipinas 2011, anyone?

The Mutya ng Pilipinas 2011 candidates

Year-end is drawing near. And it is not common to have one of the mid-year national pageants getting conducted in the last quarter. But I still give credit to the people behind Mutya ng Pilipinas for continuing with the tradition of this pageant institution despite losing luster in the past decade.

30 Official Candidates were presented to the press at the poolside of Holiday Inn Manila Galleria with the promise of giving fame and international representation to the winners. A good number of the ladies (7 all in all) come from Filipino communities in the U.S. and Europe so the presence of many mixed-race beauties is typical of Mutya.

This year’s contenders are:

Mary May Yasol (Paranaque)
Bernadette Lou Faundo (Zamboanga)
Benjielyn Rose Ongluico (Surigao)
Diana Sunshine Rademann (Puerto Princesa)
Celina Nardo (Iloilo)
Vickie Marie Rushton (Bacolod)
Natalie Grace Roberts (Western Visayas)
Maegan Cannova (Southern California)
Nina Melizza Ronda (Albay)
Charisse Marie Sisperez (Pasig)
Kristina Marie Jose (Tondo, Manila)
Maria Isabelle Itchon (Santiago, Isabela)
Pauline August Fernandez (Davao)
Abbygale Monderin (Caloocan)
Jhuneva Marie Go (Tacloban)
Caren Braun (Aklan)
Cathrin Cloters (Germany)
Gabrile Erika Tilokani (Mandaluyong)
Annie Lea Fingcale (Manila)
Eula Dorothy Mercado (Cebu)
Camille Javier (Bulacan)
Roxanne Corluy (Belgium)
Felicia Baron (Arizona)
Maria Bergensen (Norway)
Bea Rose Santiago (Canada)
Jojilyn Sauquillo (Laguna)
Reynalyn De Mesa (Caloocan)
Tifani Alexandra Grimes (Northern California)
America Atega (Cagayan de Oro)

Coronation night of Mutya ng Pilipinas 2011 will be held in Puerto Princesa, Palawan on December 2, to be telecast over TV5. Three titles are at stake: Mutya ng Pilipinas-International, Mutya ng Pilipinas-Tourism, and Mutya ng Pilipinas-Overseas Communities. The winners will represent the Philippines in Miss Asia Pacific International, Miss Intercontinental and Miss Tourism International.

Norman’s Blog video teasers for Beauty Pageant Season 2011

The Beauty Pageant season of 2011 is going to heat up even more in just a month. Starting with the Bb. Pilipinas 2011 which will have its’ finals in early April, followed by the Miss Philippines-Earth before summer winds up. And then there is the newly put-up Miss World Philippines of Cory Quirino which should select its winner for Miss World around June or July. Mutya ng Pilipinas should also be in action at right about the same period. Thereafter, the beauty carnival moves to Sao Paolo, Brazil in August for Miss Universe 2011 – a big thing for this blog. The other international pageants will come in succession from September to December – Miss International 2011, Miss World 2011 and Miss Earth 2011. I’m not even mentioning the lesser known competitions like Miss Tourism International, Miss Supranational, Miss Global Teen and the like.

So you see, I have my hands full for the year. There’s quite a lot to watch out for. ;-)
