Inspite of one early favorite (Ferina de Paz of Muntinlupa City) backing out due to reasons undisclosed by the organizers, there are still excellent choices among the remaining 47 ladies in contention to take the Miss Philippines Earth 2013 to the next level. In fact, it gave way for one or two to actually make it to my list of sixteen (16). The Southern Tagalog region is nicely represented with the delegates from Nagcarlan, Tanauan and San Pedro while Mindanao has strong entries in Zamboanga City and Misamis Occidental. Northern and Central Luzon can be proud of Misses Cabugao, Olongapo, Sta. Maria, Marilao and San Marcelino, with the Visayas putting in the beauties from Sogod, Talisay and Bogo City. Meanwhile, NCR and Bicol Region have one each with Taguig City and Iriga City making the cut, as far as my armchair judging goes.
My Picks for Top 8 (Photo credit: OPMB Worldwide)
In my opinion, cutting the 16 to just 8 wasn’t the most difficult, except that the last two places had four reps fighting for. In the end, I opted to take a chance on Miss Mun. of Sogod and Marilao to edge out the beauties from Tanauan and Iriga City. My top 6 come from Nagcarlan, Olongapo City, Cabugao, Zamboanga City, Taguig City and Misamis Occidental.
My Elemental Picks for MPE 2013
At this point, I decided to give my Top 8 equal chances to shine. In my eyes, the Kagandahang Flores-trained Faith Santos from Marilao – while not the prettiest in the batch – has polish and impact in most of the pre-pageant activities. She bagged the 4th and final spot in my Top 4 Elemental circle. The three ladies ahead of her have stayed strong ever since the competition, reason why Kimverlyn Suiza of Nagcarlan, Angeles delos Reyes of Olongapo City and Nancy Leonard of Zamboanga City are making it this far.
Gut-feel tells me it’s going to be a toss between the bets of Nagcarlan and Olongapo City for the title.
It’s hard to deny the fact that these two beauties represent the creme of the crop in this batch. And Carousel is making watchers feel the same. Their appearances, photoshoots and what-have-yous make Kimverlyn and Angelee look like the favored ones. And I couldn’t agree more. Unless this duo commits a string of mistakes come finals night or a surprise contender shines better, they should see themselves fighting all the way to the top.
