With the exit of Kimverlyn Suiza, Nancy Leonard moved up and Athina Chia became Miss Fire.
We all know that Kimverlyn Suiza lost her Miss Philippines Earth Air 2013 crown after deciding to pursue Bb. Pilipinas 2014 instead. As a result, Nancy Leonard of Zamboanga City has replaced her in the court of Angelee Delos Reyes. And Athina Chia has taken over the Fire spot.
Was it all worth all the risk for Kim? I think so. She is already 25. Had she waited till 2015 when she will have turned 26, then the reality is that she can only vie for two crowns instead of four.
Anyways, I think she has good-naturedly moved on from the Binibini experience and is now back in the groove of work. I’m sure she won’t be keen on showing up for another pageant this year. But if she does, I wish her all the best! :-)
An easy nod for Kimverlyn over Janine in this match?
You think this is a good match or a lopsided one?
I’m not the type to make any kind of premature judgment just because the first half is relatively more popular than the other. Both ladies are products of the same beauty pageant last year, after all. Kimverlyn Suiza came so close to winning Miss Philippines Earth 2013, while Janine Asanion made it to the hard-to-predict-full-cast of the Top 10 in the same.

Kimverlyn Suiza is the Aces & Queens entry who is highly-regarded by many as a strong contender in Bb. Pilipinas 2014, but always occupying a second-level tier to the likes of fellow campmates Yvethe Santiago, Bianca Guidotti and Pia Wurtzbach. Does she deserve the fourth fiddle status? Not at all. This articulate fair-skinned beauty is just as much qualified to register a win. She may not be trumpeted as one of the seriously-considered picks for Miss Universe Philippines, but there are still other titles up for grabs and can be a shoo-in for one of them.

Like Kimverlyn, Janine Asanion appears to be wallowing in the shadows of her Kagandahang Flores sisters MJ Lastimosa, Kris Tiffany Janson and Parul Shah. She is actually even a category below the duo of Nichole Manalo and Hannah Ruth Sison to be honest.
What amuses me is that when I surveyed a group of straight men who are really not into pageants, but would like to ogle at the photos of candidates during the Press Presentation, Janine is one of the five who really stood out in their eyes. The reasons behind may not parallel ours, but still, she is considered a strikingly beautiful young lady. And this harks me back to the year when Jennifer Barrientos won. She was the one unanimously voted upon by most of the male reps of corporate sponsors as the girl most likely to win it all.
So time to take sides now. Kimverlyn or Janine?

When Caitlin Chao and Janine Asanion filed their respective applications for Bb. Pilipinas 2014, we just know that they are part of the Kagandahang Flores team, no more, no less.
Right now, we still have no clear inkling as to the background of the Filipina-Chinese Caitlin. And chances are, we won’t be able to unearth much even before the actual announcement of candidates. But if she does make it to the Top 40, then I reckon more significant infos about her will be revealed.
On the other hand, Janine or Jaja for short came into public scrutiny last year when she represented San Marcelino, Zambales in Miss Philippines Earth 2013 where she made it to the Top 10 and was effectively named one of the five runners-up outside the five elemental winners led by Angelee delos Reyes. She is a Nursing graduate who would rather go glam than be hospital-based.
Gut feel tells me that both Caitlin and Jaja will make it to the final cut. While the latter is already in my personal list, I didn’t place the former as highly. I wonder if I may have missed a significant pick in her. ;-)
Once more, you know the drill.
The search for the eventual successor of Miss Philippines Earth 2013 Angelee delos Reyes is now officially open. The winner will take part in Miss Earth 2014 (still unannounced if Manila or another country will play host.).
The March 7, 2014 deadline is still far from this date, but interested applicants should start readying themselves this month.
If you want to be the Philippines’ next Eco-Warrior, then get a headstart for this year’s edition. ;-)

KF’s Janine Asanion: from MPE to BBP
Janine Asanion represented the Municipality of San Marcelino (Zambales) during Miss Philippines Earth 2013. She did not win that one, although a fellow camp sister – Angelee delos Reyes – did.
So off to more training this pretty girl went and just last Monday afternoon, she resurfaced. This time, she is trying her luck with Bb. Pilipinas 2014 as one of Rodgil’s bets.
Will she get selected for this year’s batch? We’ll see. ;-)
MPE2013 Miss Air Kimverlyn Suiza during her A&Q photoshoot
Jonas Gaffud uploaded the latest pictures of Kimverlyn Suiza above. The Nagcarlan beauty who was named Miss Air during Miss Philippines Earth 2013 is now scheduled to file her application for Bb. Pilipinas 2014 – a good leap from her last pageant – in the next few days or so.
Early reports are stating that she is one of the top-tier contenders of the well-known beauty camp. Will Kim live up to everyone’s expectations? ;-)
MPE2013 Angelee delos Reyes
While we are all busy with posts, comments, cheers and banters on MW2013 Megan Young and MUP2013 Ara Arida, let’s not forget about Miss Philippines Earth 2013 Angelee delos Reyes who is also aiming to add another crown for the Philippines in Miss Earth 2013.
Although a Philippine-hosted finals will not be fully advantageous for our determined representative, Angelee will not be denied the golden opportunity to follow the trail started by Mutya Datul and Megan Young.
What I am certain of is that Angelee will take on the role of a most graceful host delegate to the max. Without necessarily vying for the Miss Congeniality award, she will reach out to each candidate and make sure that things are running smoothly among them. At the same time, considering that the competition has so many points-earning pre-pageant events, she will strive harder to rack up the medals to insure that making it to the top won’t be looked at as favoritism.
Good luck in your preparations, Angelee! :-)

Here’s another comer for Miss World Philippines 2013. Her name is Karla Patricia Alas. And for those who keenly followed Miss Philippines Earth 2013 a couple of months back, she took part in the said competition as the representative of Las Pinas City. Having ended that attempt empty-handed, she is going the route of another national beauty pageant, aiming to become our rep in Indonesia for Miss World 2013.
How do you assess this lady? (Photo credit: OPMB Worldwide/Edmund Chua)
I like this lady who, by the way, is a Registered Nurse who stands 5’6″. But do I like her enough to make Top 5? Your guess is as good as mine. ;-)

While it is the ultimate objective of any beauty queen to capture the international crown in her pageant assignment, there is something about the aura and disposition of Miss Philippines Earth 2013 Angelee Claudett delos Reyes that gives pageant followers the gut-feel that she has the extra kick to rise one notch higher than her predecessor (Stephany Stefanowitz) who placed 2nd to Tereza Fajksova last year. And the girl has been very vocal about her strong desire to do a Karla Henry and achieve a Philippine win in Miss Earth for the second time.
I have no doubts about it – i.e., the 110% commitment to exceed her personal standards and give additional honor to her countrymen in the global stage. And while there remains the constant likelihood of the Philippines hosting yet another edition (unless negotiations with Thailand pull through), the sweet, tactful and diplomatic Angelee is out to prove that she is worth the environmental crown on her own passion and merits. ;-)

Angelee Claudett de los Reyes is a perfect example of perseverance handsomely paying off. In the long list of beauty pageants and bikini competitions she participated in, her victory as Miss Philippines Earth 2013 last Sunday tops all her well-meaninged efforts to become a certified national beauty queen. And I am certain that when she stated that she will give her 200 percent for Miss Earth 2013, she means it to (a genuine) heart and tenacious disposition.

What say you, dear readers? Are we looking at the second Miss Earth titleholder of the Philippines? While host countries winning the crown has already become a running joke in pageant circles, Angelee could be an exception should it happen. ;-)
