The Official Send-Off for Miss World Philippines 2014 Valerie Weigmann happened at the Nest on the Rooftop of W Building 6th in BGC last night. Together with Ms. Cory Quirino of CQ Global Quest, our bet for Miss World 2014 was presented to the Press before she finally departs for London this coming Thursday, November 20. Dressed in a blue Eric delos Santos number, she cheerfully gave all the photo ops, press interviews and Q&As she can muster. The girl is simply full of charm and energy. Three of her four Princesses were in attendance. 1st Princess Lorraine Kendrickson, 2nd Princess Nelda Ibe and 3rd Princess Nicole Donesa took their turns in giving Valerie their well-wishes and personal messages. And I really think these girls are really a close group. It’s a pity 4th Princess Rachel Peters had to be overseas for some personal matters.
Ms. Cory Quirino was beaming the whole night. She was like a proud Godmother to Valerie, standing by her side all the time while making sure that all the guests were properly attended to. And when she was given the floor to give her final words to our bet, she couldn’t help but gush in excitement. She also profusely thanked the whole Aces & Queens team which was given free rein in training, BWAP finalization and wardrobe preparations. Valerie was visibly elated by the large turnout of guests and press reps. She felt the love and attention overflowing. The three major networks covered the event, just as the broadsheet and online media professionals came in full force to commit their full support to her London mission. Her training camp was ably represented by Jonas Gaffud and a number of its key trainers plus camp sisters. And of course, the lovely send-off cake was a nice touch that made our Queen giggle in delight. I was one of a few who asked Valerie questions during the open forum. I simply queried as to how she is coping with all the simultaneous demands that had to be met within just a little over a month of planning and polishing. Always the optimist, she is simply thankful that she had a longer time to get herself ready unlike her predecessor who only had the luxury of a couple of weeks before leaving for Bali last year. And besides, she is trying her best to replace the pressure with excitement for a lot of reasons. The primary motivation, first and foremost, is her love for the Philippines. And this should be enough to sustain and strengthen her journey to a possible back-to-back Miss World crown in London.
My best wishes to you, dear Valerie! On behalf of this blog and all the readers/followers, we promise to back you up every step of the way. 101% :-D
