Late yesterday afternoon and onwards, a Victory Party was held inside Palace Pool Club in BGC. Mercator Artist and Model Management – led by Jonas Gaffud – hosted the event. There were multiple honorees. First on the list is Ann Colis who was recently crowned Miss Globe 2015 in Toronto, Canada. And then there is Hillarie Danielle Parungao who – just last week – was adjudged Miss World Philippines 2015 and will go to Sanya, China to represent the country in Miss World 2015. Along with her, 1st Princess Cassandra Naidas was also feted for completing a 1-2 finish for Aces & Queens in the said pageant. These three beauties were joined by Mercator’s exclusive talent Richard Juan who stepped out of the Pinoy Big Brother house during one of the latest eliminations.
It was a very happy occasion for everyone involved. Mister World Philippines 2015 Sam Ajdani was also on hand to join in the celebration and gamely posed for photo ops with Hillarie as the reigning titleholders of their respective affiliated competitions. Beauty queens and fashion models also came and literally made splashes in the cool water of the venue, as only the pool club can deliver.
From all of us here at normannorman.com, congratulations once more to Ann, Hillarie and Cassandra for jobs well done! ;-)

Newly-crowned Miss World Philippines 2015 Hillarie Danielle Parungao is not about to take it easy after her victory. After all, she has less than a month to prepare for Miss World 2015 in Sanya, China. And starting last night, she already buckled down to business with Miss World 2013 Megan Young who started laying down the cards on the table on what to expect in the competition. It won’t be an easy task, and not even our former titleholder will endeavor to answer all the specific questions that could possibly be less applicable now.
But for sure, Megan has very useful tips and suggestions to share to Hillarie. More than any other Filipina, she is the one who became very close to Julia Morley. She can size up the long journey ahead for our bet and field in recommendations that would still prove very useful.
Of course, the China factor is something hard to work around with. And it is a hurdle that Hillarie must learn how to face head-on. On top of that, she needs to focus on at least two (2) fast-track events where she has an excellent fighting chance of winning. No use being a Jill of All Trades at this point. The clock is ticking.
So what, dear readers, are your inputs for Hillarie’s preparations? ;-)

The hardworking Aces & Queens Team
Yesterday, Aces & Queens started screening the ladies who will form part of the beauty camp’s Class of 2016 for Bb. Pilipinas. Everyone was present – from Jonas Gaffud to John Cuay to Bessie Besana to Arnold Mercado to Gerry Diaz and more. Of course, the identities of the ladies (filtered from more than two hundred applicants
) cannot be revealed just yet. It’s way too premature to even give hints or teaser photos. But this much I can say. All of them came out with smiling faces – a good sign that next year’s batch could be potentially an excellent one.
The names of the ladies who qualified will only be known at the right time. For now, let’s rest easy knowing that the group is going to prepare and train a new set of wow beauties who will vie for the quintet of titles for Bb. Pilipinas 2016.
Stay tuned! :-)
Just follow the details above and find your way to Mercator’s Makati Office

Look who’s going to be a fellow pageant blogger. Jonas Gaffud, that’s who.
The Beauty Queen-Maker has shared the upcoming endeavor in his Facebook account: “Starting my blog soon about my journey into the world of beauty pageants etc.”
And following the same thread, it is likely that his blog will go live starting Tuesday, September 1. It’s coming real soon. And it should be filled with a lot of highlights and sidelights from all the beauty pageants he has fielded his winning national and international Queens in, and more. Juicier than juicy tidbits, I reckon?
I can’t wait to read the first entry! :-D

Vacationing in Los Angeles at the moment, Jonas Gaffud made sure that US-based Miss Universe 2012 1st Runner-Up Janine Tugonon found time to reunite with friends and fellow MU placers 2013 3rd Runner-Up Ara Arida and 2010 4th Runner-Up Venus Raj. And the three ladies spent a day hanging out and going shopping like young girls out on a break from their pageant activities.
Also, renowned Filipino designer Oliver Tolentino hosted a sumptuous Pinoy dinner for everyone in the group. It was definitely a night of fun and endless chats.
It would have been complete had Miss Universe 2011 3rd Runner-Up Shamcey Supsup-Lee joined the trip. But with her pregnancy and the busy daily routines at Pedro ‘n Coi, it just could no longer be accommodated. ;-)

If you attended the formal opening of Book and Borders Cafe along Tomas Morato in Quezon City yesterday, chances are that you’d get starstruck with the beautiful and handsome guests who graced the happy and mind-filling occasion – all from Team Mercator of Jonas Gaffud.
Two lovely Miss Universe runners-up – 2010’s Venus Raj and 2013’s Ariella Arida – gamely offered their time to be the ‘baristas’ during the event. Bb. Pilipinas 2015 alumna Teresita Ssen “Wynwyn” Marquez lent her full dramatic speaking voice when it was time to do the book reading. Singer-actor Ken Alfonso delivered a melodious number that made the girls in the place go ga-ga over his looks and voice. Models Sam Ajdani and Amadeo Leandro made sure that their presence alone was more than enough to make heads turn 180 degrees everywhere they go. And TV/Film personalities Benjamin Alves and Karylle warmly welcomed everyone with their usual book-loving charms.
Do take the time to drop by Book and Borders Cafe one of these days. You won’t be able to see the complete cast of beautiful guests all in one place again, but you will definitely get more for your productive time with books, coffee, smoothies and good food to while those lazy afternoons or relaxing early nights inside its cozy set-up.
