ABS-CBN always has a sharp eye for new talents who have both the lingering looks and strong potentials to hit it big in showbusiness (or at least on the small screen). Names like Sam Milby, Kim Chiu, Gerald Anderson, and the MelaSon (Melai-Jason) loveteam are just some of the alumni of Pinoy Big Brother which has become one of the network’s richest sources of stars-in-the-making. Here are some of the new faces who are likely to take centerstage and lay their claim for stardom in a few months or so.

Tom Mott is another Pinoy Big Brother alumna. He may not have lasted long inside the house to reach the Final 4, but he is surely getting the bigger breaks nowadays compared to his fellow housemates. One major thing going for Tom (aside from his killer looks) is his reasonable fluency in Tagalog. He doesn’t need to go through endless lessons in mastering language, unlike Sam Milby who really dug deep just to achieve conversational or script-rehearsed facility in the vernacular. He is currently starring in “Precious Hearts Romances: Love Me Again”, “Your Song Presents: Isla” and will soon be introduced in an upcoming film project.

This early in his career (he just moved in the Pinoy Big Brother house last weekend), Ivan Dorschner is being tagged as the next Gerald Anderson. The Filipino-Irish looker who has been transplanted from the US West Coast to local shores is getting a lot of fan support and adulation. His surname may not be easy to recall, but the boyish and angelic face will definitely be a hit and it’s just a matter of waiting for the summer to end (the PBB Teen Edition will only last until the end of May or early June) before he finally becomes one of the country’s hottest matinee idols. But just like Sam Milby, he really needs to learn to speak Tagalog. Otherwise, this will stall his already-heating stride for stardom for a number of months before he is given the go-signal to appear in teleseryes or mini-seryes.

Hermes Bautista may not have reached the pinnacle of popularity when he was inside the Pinoy Big Brother house, but he surely is being groomed by ABS-CBN for bigger things to come. His exotic looks, long tresses and attractive physique will never go unnoticed by the public. He is presently in the cast of “Your Song Presents: Isla”.

Paul Jake Castillo‘s biggest claim to fame so far is finishing 1st Runner-Up to Melai Cantiveros in Pinoy Big Brother Double Up. If not for the super strong fan base of the latter, he could have easily won the same. But this Cebuano businessman is looking at commencing his showbiz career on the right foot. Many people see him as someone whose looks and manly aura grow on you and stay stuck permanently. He may not be considered gorgeous, but there is something – an X factor if you will -that might give him a long shelf life in the biz.

There you are. This quartet of guys from the ABS-CBN stable will surely give its current male stars a run for their money as 2010 progresses. I’m upping the ante, though, on Ivan Dorschner. I believe he has the strongest chance of quickly zooming to the top.
