The Opening Number of Bb. Pilipinas 2014 was one of the more polished and better-choreographed since ABS-CBN took over our favorite national beauty pageant. The Binibinis danced to the hip-moving music of Cher’s ‘Woman’s World’. I initially thought that the network will also be using Kylie Minogue’s “Into the Blue” after it was played for all the TV teasers.
At any rate, DJ M.O.D.’s “Infinity and Beyond” was introduced in the clips this year. Will it be the one for the March 15 finals as well? I hope so. The tune has a very catchy beat that would identify Bb. Pilipinas 2015 in an instant. ;-)

Farewell speeches. They’re usually the most emotional messages to deliver for outgoing titleholders. And for the Bb. Pilipinas 2014 Queens, they had theirs recorded at ABS-CBN so as not to choke and make each meaningful word count as clear and audible for the audience to hear. All five – MJ Lastimosa, Bianca Guidotti, Kris Tiffany Janson, Yvethe Marie Santiago and Parul Shah – consider the past year their best journey so far and wouldn’t mind doing the whole thing all over again if they could.
Let’s see who came up with the most heart-tugging end statements this coming Sunday night. ;-)

Of course, the question in the title of this post is likely to be answered by many as “It depends on which Binibinis will win the titles on March 15.”
But let’s be honest. The chances will most likely be brighter than last year.
For starters, there will be no back-to-back missions to worry about. The challenge of the same country winning the same international crown for a second consecutive year is more than enough to send shivers to the spine of whoever is installed for the assignment. Add to that the fact that both Miss International and Miss Supranational have never green-lighted such a pageant achievement to date.
What’s more, gut-feel is telling me that the eventual Bb. Pilipinas 2015 victors will definitely get the momentum back in their favor. Regardless of who gets Universe, International, Intercontinental and Supranational (I am not including Tourism anymore for obvious reasons), the probability of placing better is greater.

But allow me to get back to the answer I am anticipating for the question. If everything really depends on which Binibinis will win the 2015 crowns, who will you assign to the different titles to insure a more laudable year overseas? ;-)

Bb. Pilipinas 2015 Official Candidate #10 Pia Wurtzbach has started to level up well of late. And this is the concensus I gathered from some media friends the past few days. This edition will definitely be her last and hopefully, the one where she will post her best placement yet.
But how did she really cope up with the loss during the Bb. Pilipinas 2014 finals? Do watch the video of her TV guesting last year when she was interviewed by host Tim Yap about the subject. Click below.

Hannah Ruth Sison and Pia Wurtzbach are the biggest risk-takers of Bb. Pilipinas 2015

Risk is defined as “the possibility that something unpleasant or unwelcome will happen
“. On the flipside is security or as applied to an individual – a prudent disposition that will prevent the less strong-willed “…to attempt to extend the current limits of performance.
Binibinis 28 Hannah Ruth Sison and 10 Pia Wurtzbach are far from being categorized in the latter. They would rather go for broke than settle with a string of future what-ifs. They are the biggest risk-takers among the Official Candidates of Bb. Pilipinas 2015.
Binibini 10 Pia Wurtzbach
Aside from being previous runners-up, Hannah and Pia are in the game for the 3rd and last time in their respective pageant careers. They have more to lose in this round than in the previous outings where both have already inched their way very close to the crowns.
Will they find the proverbial silver lining on March 15? I am pinning my hopes on the affirmative. My fondness for both Binibinis cannot be denied. And in the event that they do indeed capture what they’ve been looking for since 2013, I will definitely be the first to shout and jump for joy.
Regardless of the bashings and complaints, I still have my faith in them. Youth may no longer be on their side as far as the age limits of Bb. Pilipinas are concerned. But experience and proven track record as beautiful soldiers of contingency will work in their favor. ;-)

It’s already the 1st of March. And in as little as two weeks from now, the Bb. Pilipinas 2014 Queens will turn over the crowns to their new successors.
Gone are the days of recent past when talks of giving away just three (3) titles instead of five (5). I felt relieved that it was all talk and not fueled enough to happen in actual terms.
There was a time when I kept on hearing wild rumors that Bb. Pilipinas Tourism will be scrapped, alongside Bb. Pilipinas Intercontinental. I don’t want that kind of disappointment. Sure, we really want the Tourism title replaced pronto. But without an immediate franchise to take its place, the strong batch of 2015 will be given a big disservice if only three honors will be at stake. I’m not sure yet why the title of Kris Tiffany Janson was included in the buzz. Thankfully, however, everything is back to normal.
On March 15, it will still be five (5) crowns for five (5) Binibinis. :-)

Now here's a unique Binibini face-off for you to feast upon
Now here’s a unique Bb. Pilipinas Face-Off where you can share your thoughts about the three versions of Pia Wurtzbach in three different editions of the beauty pageant.
Just looking at the photo grid above, it’s quite easy to tell how she was a stand-out the first time that she joined last 2013, slackened a bit the following year and restored her original aura in the ongoing competition. I’m amused myself how pictures can project the ups and downs in a Binibini’s participation.
Pia was obviously peaking when she was named 1st Runner-Up during Bb. Pilipinas Gold. She was in her best elements then. But when she decided to resign from the placement to try her luck a year after, you can tell that there was something off. The pressure of getting a crown has definitely taken a toll on her overall disposition. And it didn’t help any that her fateful Q&A during finals night (where Sen. Angara asked her a question in Tagalog which somehow cornered her in giving a reply in the vernacular and losing time to translate her thoughts into English) was like a soft dagger that – while not the reason behind the loss – casted a not-so-positive spell on her final ranking among the judges’ scoresheets.
But the girl is back. And this time, the 2013 aura has been faithfully restored and ready to conquer the nationals with nerves of steel and a visibly more willful disposition.
Another photo comparison of Pia during 2013, 2014 and now.
Will Binibini 10 be finally able to rope in a highly-anticipated crown come March 15? ;-)
