Julian Aurine ‘Ja’ Flores learned her lessons well from Bb. Pilipinas 2014. After making it to the Top 15 more than a year ago, pageant followers were expecting that she would jump straight into 2015 and ride on the wave of familiarity she has already started. But this full-fledged Manileña
must have a different game plan in mind. She skipped on the opportunity first after landing a string of commercials on TV that could only spell disqualification should the contract run against a new Bb. Pilipinas candidacy.
My hunch is that after serving those endorsement ties, Ja will propel herself back to the pageant world and perhaps, resume the unfinished business of winning a national crown.
So is the buzz true that she could be joining the queue for Bb. Pilipinas next year? Methinks the prospects are bright for a return. ;-)

Let us look back at how the outgoing Queens from the Bb. Pilipinas 2014 finals night delivered their farewell speeches as they traversed the entire stage of Araneta Coliseum.
Time really flies so fast. The Bb. Pilipinas 2014 Queens will be doing theirs tonight. Will the tone be emotionally grateful? Or will MJ Lastimosa, Bianca Guidotti, Kris Tiffany Janson, Yvethe Santiago and Parul Shah choose to be joyfully positive?
I’m expecting both. :-)

2013 was a truly tough act to follow – what with a Miss International, a Miss Supranational and a Miss Universe 3rd Runner-Up to face up to. But the Bb. Pilipinas 2014 Queens faced the past year head-on and took on their respective missions with head held high and the promise to give their very best abroad. They all did.
While a Miss Intercontinental 2nd Runner-Up placement, a Miss Universe Top 10 finish and a Miss Supranational Top 20 inclusion are not enough to please everyone, do keep in mind that 2014 was the Philippines’ Year of Representing Dangerously.

Our reigning titleholders were never amiss in their individual assignments. They followed their game plans as best as they could. If the sincere efforts did not yield the desired results, then it is already destiny speaking to us in bold letters. It still wasn’t time to either shine brighter or continue the streak or even achieve rare back-to-back feats.
I salute all of you, ladies!
The year wasn’t the kindest, but you still gave Filipinos reasons to be proud.
Prouder than most nations, I daresay. :-)

The Opening Number of Bb. Pilipinas 2014 was one of the more polished and better-choreographed since ABS-CBN took over our favorite national beauty pageant. The Binibinis danced to the hip-moving music of Cher’s ‘Woman’s World’. I initially thought that the network will also be using Kylie Minogue’s “Into the Blue” after it was played for all the TV teasers.
At any rate, DJ M.O.D.’s “Infinity and Beyond” was introduced in the clips this year. Will it be the one for the March 15 finals as well? I hope so. The tune has a very catchy beat that would identify Bb. Pilipinas 2015 in an instant. ;-)

Farewell speeches. They’re usually the most emotional messages to deliver for outgoing titleholders. And for the Bb. Pilipinas 2014 Queens, they had theirs recorded at ABS-CBN so as not to choke and make each meaningful word count as clear and audible for the audience to hear. All five – MJ Lastimosa, Bianca Guidotti, Kris Tiffany Janson, Yvethe Marie Santiago and Parul Shah – consider the past year their best journey so far and wouldn’t mind doing the whole thing all over again if they could.
Let’s see who came up with the most heart-tugging end statements this coming Sunday night. ;-)

Of course, the question in the title of this post is likely to be answered by many as “It depends on which Binibinis will win the titles on March 15.”
But let’s be honest. The chances will most likely be brighter than last year.
For starters, there will be no back-to-back missions to worry about. The challenge of the same country winning the same international crown for a second consecutive year is more than enough to send shivers to the spine of whoever is installed for the assignment. Add to that the fact that both Miss International and Miss Supranational have never green-lighted such a pageant achievement to date.
What’s more, gut-feel is telling me that the eventual Bb. Pilipinas 2015 victors will definitely get the momentum back in their favor. Regardless of who gets Universe, International, Intercontinental and Supranational (I am not including Tourism anymore for obvious reasons), the probability of placing better is greater.

But allow me to get back to the answer I am anticipating for the question. If everything really depends on which Binibinis will win the 2015 crowns, who will you assign to the different titles to insure a more laudable year overseas? ;-)

Bb. Pilipinas 2015 Official Candidate #10 Pia Wurtzbach has started to level up well of late. And this is the concensus I gathered from some media friends the past few days. This edition will definitely be her last and hopefully, the one where she will post her best placement yet.
But how did she really cope up with the loss during the Bb. Pilipinas 2014 finals? Do watch the video of her TV guesting last year when she was interviewed by host Tim Yap about the subject. Click below.
