I literally sat in my chair stunned for a few moments after it was over. Our little Jessica went toe-to-toe with Miss Jennifer and held her own. They both have amazingly strong voices, unique voices, and voices that reach into your Soul. It was truly amazing.

I think the WGWG formula is now part of the AI norm (five years in a row now). With all the little girls voting for the cute guy, it’s been pretty much a lock that if you see a white guy with a guitar, he’ll end up winning the whole thing. This time, however, I thought it would be different because Jessica had the majority of the Filipino community behind her. When I heard there was a record amount of votes, I thought, “OMG, she may have broken the WGWG curse”. Nope. I then started to wonder what happened to all the Filipino votes? Oh well… her loss may actually be a blessing, as you said. She will more than likely get recording offers from various companies and she can “pick and choose”. I pray that whichever company she chooses, they guide her, polish her, and give her song choices that fit her incredible, one in a million, voice.

Congratulations Jessica! You are our winner, you are our American Idol, you are going to be a great success! Mahal kita!!!

Shouldn’t they be in the thick of pre pageant these last few days of May? Granting that the MWP Finals would be around end of June , the winner would barely have one month to prepare. I find it rather odd that on its second year, Cory Quirino’s MWP is not making the hoopla and loud hype that it created on its debut last year. Or is it a case of silent waters run deep this time?
