Do hearts and beautiful doctors make a good mix? Definitely!

First off, a Happy Hearts Day to everyone!

Wherever and with whomever you will be spending Velentine’s Day, maximize the possibilities of showing your love beyond flowers and chocolates and gifts of all shapes & sizes.

You might be wondering why I titled this post as stated above. Well, there’s a good link I suppose.

From this end, allow me to segue into sharing with you more images of one of the more freely-discussed ladies in this year’s set of Bb. Pilipinas Official Candidates after I posted my first feature on her…here’s Golda Soller, M.D.

I was slightly taken aback after publishing my blogbite on Dr. Golda Soller. The write-up was posted just a couple of hours before the Official Candidates were announced, and comments were already starting to pour in. And when she was finally named one of the Top 30, more replies followed and I thought to myself…hey, this girl is sparking an exchange of potshots among her followers and otherwise. I analyzed things, and the people seem to be tempered enough not to let things blow out of proportion. I trust that the parameters of decency will still be observed up to its most tolerable limits.

Personally, I can sense something special in Golda. Her full smile alone can light up a room, and it shows that she is very secure with her looks and likeability. Now, if a reader forces me into answering if she is one of my favorites for Bb. Pilipinas 2012, I would instantly say that there are other competitors on top of my list. But then again, the finals won’t be held until mid-April so between now and D-Day, a lot of developments can still take place. Who knows? She might just be capable of stealing the thunder from among the heralded picks.

In the meantime, let’s sit back and enjoy the individual evolution of Golda and the 29 other ladies into potential beauty queens. Their journey has just started and the road has not shown any major bumps and detours as of yet.

Again, Happy Valentine’s Day, dear readers! :-)

Aces & Queens’ “Dazzling Dozen”

To be able to field one, two or three Official Candidates to the annual Bb. Pilipinas search is already an achievement in itself. But to secure twelve (12) slots is certainly a major boost to Aces & Queens – the Jonas Gaffud-led beauty camp responsible for Shamcey Supsup, Venus Raj, Jennifer Barrientos, Gionna Cabrera, the late Melody Gersbach and more. They truly outdid themselves this year by cornering more than 1/3 of the total count – three more and they would’ve gone for half of the 30.

I can safely state that at least one (or two) of them will land a crown come April 15 finals night. As to who, my lips are still tightly sealed because it would obviously be too premature to give out predictions at this point when there are still two months to go before the winners are announced.

Anyways, without further ado, let me present to you Aces & Queens’ “Dazzling Dozen” for Bb. Pilipinas 2012…..

Many thanks to the fab Jory Rivera of OPMB Worldwide for all the images above.

P.S. And may I ask a bit of indulgence from you, dear readers? These photos were taken during the long waiting stretch of final deliberations last Saturday night. So please go ‘a tad’ gentle on the comments for this blog feature. ;-)

Golda Mae U. Soller: the Doctor is in the Bb. Pilipinas house

image

It is not very often (rare even) that we get to see a Doctor who wants to be a Beauty Queen. I can only think of Lizbeth De Padua (Bb. Pilipinas-Universe 1976) after a quick memory check.

This year, we have a beauty-and-brains Thomasian who is trying her luck with Bb. Pilipinas 2012. Her name is Golda Mae U. Soller, a board passer in the Physician Licensure Examinations held August of last year. Prior to becoming a professional, she was already hailed in the campus as Ms. Thomasian Doctors and in her province, as Ms. Isabela.

Though unconventional in looks, this lady is sure to have her own set of charm that will definitely distinguish her from the rest. Gift of gab is already a given.

Will Golda make it to the Top 30 this year? I strongly believe she will. :-)

Ayelee Marie Dasalla: will she make it tonight?

The fair-skinned lady nurse from Mariveles, Bataan has already fulfilled two significant life achievements so far – finish college and pass the Nursing Board exams. A third one should be in the offing tonight if she makes it as one of the Top 40 Official Candidates for Bb. Pilipinas 2012. After surviving the first cuts, the first callback and the 2nd, life could change a bit for this winsome lass who wants to take her chances in winning a beauty title.

Will Ayelee Marie Dasalla be proclaimed as one of the certified contenders this year? Let’s see if handler John dela Vega has a potential winner in her. ;-)

Do you want your Bb. Pilipinas like Manuela Basilio?

Step aside, Gabriela Silang. With a historical-sounding name like Manuela Basilio, even our National Hero Dr. Jose Rizal would be enamored at the very least. The Supermodel of the Philippines 2011 Top 3 finisher (Samantha Gomez won the title) is seriously considering a cross-over from the world of professional modeling to the intrigue-laden territory of beauty pageants. And why not? She has the enviable height, the stage presence, the fierce aura and the catwalk savvy to stand out once pitted with beautiful ladies to her left and right.

But does she have what it takes to be re-molded into another Venus Raj or Shamcey Supsup? It all remains a mystery, unless she steps up to the plate and qualifies for a Bb. Pilipinas 2012 candidate’s slot. Saturday, February 11, will see if she indeed joins the whole thing and all. ;-)

Almost a photofinish for Jill Urbina in Bb. Pilipinas 2012

If February 7 was strictly designated as the deadline for submission of Bb. Pilipinas 2012 applications, then Jill Urbina would have been one of the few girls who screened at the very last minute. But then again, since extensions are trending in the pageant, it was just close to a photofinish.

Jill flew in from Zurich, Switzerland earlier this week and made it to Gateway Suites – with plenty of time to spare – for her initial screening.

I assume that the 20 year-old – who stands 5’8″ – has already made it past the residency requirement even before she started staying in Europe. Otherwise, there’s no use giving her false hopes if BPCI will put its foot down in implementing their rules and regulations.

Good luck, Jill. She’d make a welcome addition to the cast of this year’s edition.

Jaine Hidalgo: Girl, un-interrupted for Bb. Pilipinas 2012?

Jaine Hidalgo representing Mun. of Milaor during Miss Philippines Earth 2011

It must be heartbreaking to make it to the Top 50, just to miss the cut to the Final 40 Official Candidates. That was what exactly happened to Jaine Hidalgo during the screenings of Bb. Pilipinas 2011. The boot did not ceaselessly dampen her spirit, though, as she busied herself with preparations for Miss Philippines Earth 2011 where she represented the Municipality of Milaor. She did not win the latter, but if it’s any consolation, her stint with the contest reached up to Round 3, one elimination short of making it to the Top 10 who competed during the coronation night.

After constant trainings with Aces & Queens, the 5’6″ Jaine is back to the Bb. Pilipinas battlefield armed with more confidence, better styling and sharper looks. Come Saturday night, she will know her fate once the names of Official Candidates for Bb. Pilipinas 2012 are announced at the Gateway Suites. Will she finally don the sash that escaped her grasp last year? Hopefully. And I mean that. :-)

Bb. Pilipinas 2012 Final Screening moved (again) to February 11

Am I the blogger who cried ‘wolf’ or has BPCI extended its final screening schedule again?

Tomorrow, February 9, will be the 2nd Callback. On the other hand, February 11 (this coming Saturday) is the new date to remember. The Official Candidates of Bb. Pilipinas 2012 should be known before midnight…I hope.

If the reason(s) for the extension is to stall time to accomodate an outstanding delegate who will only be flying in between now and Friday, then so be it. Otherwise, the constant changes are starting to (slightly) bug me.

Anyways, let’s look forward to Saturday and seeing the ladies who will officially vie for Bb. Pilipinas 2012. ;-)

In the meantime, here are brief videos from the 1st Callback last week.

Could Elaine Kay Moll be the surprise package of Bb. Pilipinas 2012?

Elaine Kay Moll during one of Miss World Philippines 2011's pre-pageant activities.

Elaine Kay Moll may not have won Miss World Philippines 2011, her first national pageant. But she did make a good showing by making it to the Top 10 during the finals. Her journey did not stop with that loss. As I have blogged late last year, she is one of the ladies being rumored to join again.

During the Bb. Pilipinas 2012′s first callback last week, Elaine was present once more. With the help of her handlers (Jonas Gaffud’s Aces & Queens), she has improved from last year. There still remain traces of a shy disposition (read: lack of flirtiness/adequate fierceness), but nothing that can’t be worked on with continuous training sessions with her camp’s resident specialists.

One thing strongly going for the girl is her impressive height of 5’10 1/2″ – something that can’t be easily negotiated by someone who stands 4-5 inches less. With that, I can only keep my fingers crossed that she be given extra focus in order to maximize her statuesque bearing. And I would hope that Elaine is a diligent learner. The potentials are already there. It’s just a matter of harnessing them to the fullest. :-)

Three more ladies for the Kagandahang Flores road

The names of the three ladies above have continued to be unreported up to now, but if any of our dear readers can accurately identify the trio, then it will be much appreciated.

They are the remaining bets in the Kagandahang Flores group. The photographs are courtesy of Rouge Studio+.

What do you think? Who has stronger entrants this year? Jonas Gaffud or Rodgil Flores? If you ask me, I don’t really want to pit the two in a contest among themselves. But it certainly can’t be helped. At the end of the day, all I want is to have the most deserving candidates win Bb. Pilipinas 2012 in order to sustain the momentum established by Venus Raj and Shamcey Supsup. That’s not asking too much, right? ;-)
